For the past four years, the event has raised money for charity and this year the funds will support the humanitarian efforts of Dr. Hawa Abdi of Somalia. Dr. Abdi is a 63-year-old OB/GYN who along with her two doctor daughters provide food and care their family's land outside Mogadishu to approximately 90,000 Somalis displaced by that country's violence.
"The Glamour Women of the Year Fund is something I am incredibly proud of," said Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour, "and we are thrilled to be partnering with L'Oréal Paris for this effort. L'Oréal Paris' limited-edition Woman of the Year nail polish offers our readers a fun and fashionable way to support the good works of women around the world."
The deep berry nail polish will sell for $6.50 exclusively at shopglamour.com, and nearly half of the sales from bottle sold will go directly toward the efforts of Dr. Abdi and her daughters.
"We are proud to partner with Glamour to celebrate the Woman of the Year Fund honoree, Dr. Hawa Abdi," said L'Oréal Paris President Karen Fondu. "Dr. Hawa Abdi has made unprecedented contributions to helping women in need of urgent medical care. We've created the limited edition L'Oréal Paris Glamour Woman of the Year nail polish to raise awareness around her efforts and encourage women everywhere to make beautiful differences in their communities. Dr. Abdi is truly inspiring, and we applaud her courage and commitment to making our world a better place."
