Have you ever thought about how much more fabulous you'd look if you had the same arsenal of stylists, dermatologists and makeup artists as those fancy celebrities at your whim?

We all have -- especially on those bad hair and skin days. But now the editors of InStyle have culled their favorite snippets of advice from leading beauty experts across the country -- and celebs themselves -- in their new book, InStyle "Ultimate Beauty Secrets: The Best Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts to Create Your Perfect Look."

When a fresh-off-the-presses copy landed on our laps, we dove right in and immediately put these five tips on our to-do list:

Skin. "If you have dry skin that is flaky, consider changing up your routine and washing your face with dandruff shampoo instead of your regular cleanser once a month, suggests Wellesley, Massachusetts dermatologist Elissa Lunder. This reduces the yeast levels that cause scaly skin." (Page 11)

Blush. "For the most natural look, makeup artist Bobbi Brown suggests using two colors: one bronzy shade, and one with a dash of color (brighter pink, coral, rose or plum.) Swirl the rosy hue on the apples, then blend a swoosh of bronze below the cheekbones for definition." (Page 66)

Eye Fix. "Fix messy, cracked eye shadow by popping it out of its tray, putting it into a makeup palette, and crushing it. Add a dab of Vaseline or eye cream until you've gotten the right consistency. Voila! Cream shadow." (Page 89)

Mascara. "To avoid smudges when applying mascara, hold a spoon (plastic works well, and you won't miss it from the kitchen) above the upper lashes and then under the lower lashes to shield the rest of your makeup." (Page 103)

Lipstick. "If you really like the way a lipstick color looks in the tube, prime lips with a touch of foundation before applying; that way, you start with a blank canvas. The result will be similar to what you see in the package." (Page 150)

Red carpet vixens like Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachel Bilson also divulge tried-and-true tips, our favorite of which was Jewel's secret of applying lipstain on her cheeks underneath foundation to fake a natural flush.

The picture-pretty glossy is smaller than your typical coffee table book, and fits light and snugly in-hand for some relaxing page-turning. An offer for three free issues of InStyle magazine is tucked inside of the cover, and the book retails for just $22.95.
