While it seems like every magazine and website hosts their own version of an annual beauty awards nowadays, the honor holds more clout when it comes from your peers in the industry.

This morning at New York's The Four Season Restaurant, the trade publication WWD Beauty Biz awarded top accolades over breakfast to the year's biggest industry players.

With categories like Most Innovative Marketers and Ad Campaigns of the Year, the glitzy affair shines a spotlight on the behind-the-scenes executives who orchestrate the strategies that have you yearning for the newest moisturizer or lipgloss.

YouTube sensation Michelle Phan picked up the Newcomer of the Year award for her how-to video expertise, while Leonard Lauder was honored with the committee's first Visionary Award for his life's work with The Estée Lauder Companies.

Both luxury and mass brands were celebrated, with Breakthrough Product of the Year going to Chanel and Maybelline in makeup, and Clinique and Johnson & Johnson in skincare. L'Oréal and Garnier Fructis captured the hair category, while Womanity by Thierry Mugler dominated fragrance.

The Best Executed Launch Strategy highlights brands who took high risks on big ideas, and won big.

Pantene won the hair care category for the complete reformulation, repackaging and relaunch of its classic haircare line -- which we covered in-depth -- while Marc Jacobs Bang was rewarded for its pushing-the-boundaries ad campaign that focused more on flesh than fragrance.

If you haven't made your list for Santa yet, the ceremony's complete list of 25 winners below may give you some sparkling new ideas.
