Case in point: at the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards in Hollywood, California, 24-year-old actress Camilla Belle walked the red carpet with an enviable goddess glow.
The man behind Belle's luminous look, celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman, revealed to StyleList how he created that faux post-beach sparkle. From a honeysuckle-scented powder to a "dream mousse," read on for Freedman's tips and tricks to get your bronze on rain or shine.
Brett used Lorac Natural Performance on Belle for all-over coverage since it "goes on clean and without a heavy feel, yet doesn't budge." He then used the bronzing trio Jemma Kidd School Perfect Tan to "amp up Camila's natural glow." Finally, he set her skin with a mattifying honeysuckle-scented translucent powder, DermaMinerals On-the-Go Finishing Powder, which he called "a great, easy twist-and-go combo."
Brett used a quad of blendable purple creams, Revlon Luminous Wild Orchid, to "bring out the green in her eyes." To complement the actress' pale gray dress, he applied MAC's Idol Eyes with a small damp brush to the tear duct and upper lash line to add "a light-catching silver" to her overall beauty look. The finishing touches came from L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon, which Brett said is his "hands-down favorite drugstore mascara," and Ardell Individual Lashes, which he considers to be "the most realistic and easy-to-apply individual lash falsies."
Brett kept the cheeks and lips simple with just a hint of healthy sheen. He applied Maybelline Dream Mousse Soft Plum cream blush for just a hint of flushed color, and kept her lips minimal with a swipe of shimmery gloss.
