New Year's Eve is almost here, and you know what that means! Time for some sparkle with a side of bling. But before you break out the Champagne, why not break out of the box with your hairstyle?

Sure, sleek strands and corkscrew curls are nice, but why not go for something different and a bit bolder this year? After all, if you can't let your hair down on New Year's Eve, when can you?

To give you some of the hottest styles to usher in 2011, we teamed up with celebrity hairstylist Mark Garrison, who owns a hip and trendy salon in New York City. Here are his mane suggestions for ringing in the new year.

Side Ponytail or Asymmetric Chignon: Worn straight or curly, the asymmetry provides style and class that regular ponytails do not. Think of Sandra Bullock, Alicia Keys and Nicole Richie, who have all been spotted with this look. To style it yourself, start with a deep side part. Use a curling iron or hot rollers if you want waves (of course you do!). Then use a strong root spray for volume, tease the crown, and wrap hair around and into a ponytail. Finish with some sexy side-swept bangs.

Tight curls: Time to whomp it up! Lots of spiral curls give spunk and pizzazz -- not to mention a whole lot of sex appeal. Tyra Banks and Beyoncé have both pulled off this look. To style, start with a small curling iron and add tight spirals all over your head. Then use an oil spray for moisture, and defuse with a dryer. For added volume, give a little bump at the top and pin from behind. Add a curl cream mixed with gel to all strands, finger toss and finish with a medium-hold hairspray.

Uneven Lengths: Why not try a new cut for your big night out? A very trendy look right now is having one side longer than the other. It's edgy, unique and certainly attention-getting. We love how Rihanna carried off this look. When styling, go for a deep side part, using a flat iron and smoothing serum.

The Front Bump: Build some volume up front! Kim Kardashian and Sandra Bullock have been spotted with this style and look fabulous. To do it yourself, blow-dry the hair smooth. Then push the front forward, twist and pin. Gather the rest of your locks into a ponytail at the back of your head and tease at the roots for some added volume. Finish with a shine spray and a sparkly pin or barrette.

Crimped Hair: Get a crimping iron. If curly, smooth out hair first, and then crimp from roots to ends for this textured look. Side-part hair, pull the front strands over to the side and secure with a barrette. This is a sexy, chic and modern look.

Clip-in Hair Extensions: This is a brilliant way to spice up New Year's Eve. Go for the Jessica Simpson clip-ins to instantly transform shoulder-length strands to mid-back-length hair. You can also clip in individual extensions of contrasting color to add some flair. An extension should be clipped underneath so it peaks out. If your hair is dark, then contrast it with a lighter color or blond.

"Why wait another minute to break out and take flight?" asks Garrison. "Its New Year's Eve, so the time is right. Be bold, be brave, break the mold!"

Now that you've got the look, it's time for some festive hair accessories.
