The seconds are ticking down till the ball drops and, as usual, we have no idea what we're going to wear. We're resolved to be more sartorially organized in 2011, but for now, it's time to hit the stores for some last minute bling to ring in the new year.

Style Tips:
  • Skirt: Mini skirts are the go-to for a night out on the town, but we like the sense of occasion that comes with a full, below-the-knee cut (check out how it swirls on the dance floor). This length is more flattering than the fuller short skirts that have dominated past seasons as the body at the bottom makes the waist up top appear slimmer. The key for this cut is to pick one in a light fabric that has lots of movement and to pair it with a top that fits close to the body.
  • Top: There are few occassions when we would say that more is more. But when else can you get away with sequin on top of glitter on top of shimmer? Embrace the glitz of New Year's by mixing embellishments. Try sequins with feathers or beading with brocade. Keep mixed textures in a similar palette for a sense of continuity.
  • Shoes: Opt for a more sensible heel that will let you spend all night on the dancefloor.
  • Necklace: Nod to the big night with this crystal pendant, which is reminiscent of the ball that will soon drop in Times Square.
