** OFFICIAL UPDATE ** Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress designed by Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton

Something Oldfield? Something new?

Kate Middleton has chosen Brit favorite Bruce Oldfield to design her wedding dress, according to a report in People joining the dots between an anonymous royal source and a recent sighting of her family visiting the designer's showroom.

The source says that, per Middleton's wishes, there will be no announcement on the subject until the royal wedding day of April 29. Oldfield was a beloved courtier to the late Princess Diana and designer of Queen Rania of Jordan's wedding dress.

"It's Ms. Middleton's intention to keep her dress a secret for her bridegroom on her wedding day as is a bride's prerogative," says the unidentified palace official quoted by the mag.

Britain's New of the World spotted Middleton's mother, Carole, and sister, Pippa, entering Oldfield's showroom in the tony Knightsbridge section of London last week after lunching at a nearby swanky restaurant.

While the caught-on-camera visit is completely intriguing, it doesn't rule out another plausible explanation: A posh mother-of-the bride dress or attendant's frock, perhaps.

Remember when Chelsea and Hilary Clinton paid a call to Oscar de lat Renta's New York City atelier last summer fueling speculation that Chelsea was wearing de La Renta -- instead of her ultimate choice, Vera Wang -- for her July 31, 2010 wedding. It was the Secretary of State who showed up in a mother-of-the-bride look by the Dominican designer.

Some royal watchers are continuing to speculate that Middleton will use her growing royal fashion clout to catapult a lesser-known British designer into fashion stardom with her coveted commission. The impact could be similar to the sensation she caused with her Issa engagement dress, recent Libélula wedding-guest jacket, or the off-the-rack Reiss and Whistles clothes she wore for her official Mario Testino engagement portrait.

As for Oldfield, he's not talking after issuing a statement in December that said; "Kate has such a gorgeous figure that she would look stunning anything."

Speaking of the princess-to-be causing a fashion sensation, read about the sheer dress she wore when she first met Prince William that is now a valuable piece of royal history.
