Miuccia Prada's enthusiasm for the arts has always been obvious, from her own uber-creative designs to the Prada Foundation, which was established in 1993 to support artists and commission art projects.
The designer's latest mash-up of art and fashion arrives in a series of female-directed short films for her Miu Miu line.
The first film in the series, dubbed "The Powder Room," is directed by Zoe Cassavetes and takes place in London's luxe Claridges hotel. (Read about the DVF-designed rooms at Claridges).
All of the films aim to celebrate femininity, therefore Cassavetes chose to go to one of the most feminine places of all.
"I love the idea of a powder room, the ritual which takes place within them is very important for women," Cassavetes says in a statement. "There's something special about preparing yourself, a moment before the action takes place. I love the sense of intimacy. It's a place away from men, where you can check out other women, and re-glamorize yourself ready to face the world again."
Naturally, the film is a little fashion show within itself, featuring complete wardrobes by Miu Miu worn by models Audrey Marnay, who plays the lead, Caroline de Maigret, Line Gost and Sophie Vlaming.
In the dialogue-free flick, which you can see in full at miumiu.com, the pretty ladies are seen studying themselves in dramatic mirrors, gossiping, applying lipstick, and resting on plush couches. Of course, close-ups of all the fabulous Miu Miu clothing and accessories run throughout.
"The story is about women and their private moments, so it's allowed to be free and dreamy," says Cassavetes. "The dreamy part was the most fun. And the glamour."
Fashionable film fans should keep their eyes peeled for the next director in the series who will be revealed on the website soon.
