Recovering actress/fashion designer Lindsay Lohan is in the bad news column again.
The troubled actress and 6126 shoe and legging designer is being investigated by Los Angeles police in the theft of a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, Calif. boutique, People reports.
The one-of-a-kind bauble went missing Jan. 22 from Kamofie & Company, near Lohan's home in the kitchsy seaside enclave, according to the LAPD.
The police obtained a search warrant to search Lohan's home for the missing necklace on Feb. 1, but before they could investigate, the piece was returned at police headquarters.
Police won't say who turned in the pilfered item, CTV News reports, but a department spokesman told the news outlet Lohan is under investigation for "grand theft." Meanwhile, RadarOnline is reporting police have a video of Lohan wearing the necklace.
Just about three weeks ago the actress emerged from several weeks stay at the famed Betty Ford Clinic, where she was being treated for substance abuse.
She has since been trying to regain her fashion footing, releasing sketches of a new line of 6126 footwear inspired by Old Hollywood glamour.
Lohan remains on probation for an a DUI conviction and is still the subject of court-mandated drug testing. She is due back in court for hearing on that case later this month and is dealing with another accusation that could jeopardize her probation: allegations she assaulted a Betty Ford staffer.
Perhaps times are tough for the fashion-addicted starlet:The necklace went missing just days after Lohan tweeted about bargain shopping for a pair of black Ugg boots and a Jimmy Choo handbag she scored on sale.
Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
