The actress tapped to play England's princess-to-be Kate Middleton in a swiftly-produced Lifetime television biopic has a first-name familiar to British royal watchers: Camilla.
Camilla Luddington is no Duchess or Cornwall (aka Camilla Parker-Bowles) though.
Instead, the raven-haired British actress is a beautiful -- if slightly more pouty-lipped --stand-in for the 29-year-old brown-eyed, brunette fiancé of Prince William.
The resemblance, of course, is far superior to Middleton's visage as depicted on the royal engagement coin.
The network confirmed the casting to StyleList today, but declined to comment further on why Luddington was chosen for the role, which she will play opposite fellow British actor Nico Evers-Swindell.
The movie, set to go into production soon, details the eight-year royal romance leading up to the couple's Nov. 2010 engagement and their April 29 Westminster Abbey wedding.
Luddington, Deadline reports, hails from Berkshire County; the same home turf as the future Princess Catherine. She is an emerging British actress who has played roles on this side of the pond in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and the upcoming Hallmark feature, "Accidentally in Love."
Meanwhile, read about the British designer believed to be tapped by Middleton-- or perhaps some of her closest relatives -- for a sartorial role in the royal wedding.
