Backstage at the Luca Luca Fall 2011 collection at New York Fashion Week, the beauty teams interpreted the forest fairy-tale theme with a fresh, bright pop of color on the lips, neutral tones on eyes and fingertips, and upswept bun that was youthful in height.

THE SCOOP: Luca Luca's Fall 2011 took a colorful romp through the forest, with makeup and hair that personified the young, free spirit of the collection with its bold flirtations.

"When I looked at the clothes, all I could think of was Little Red Riding Hood -- but a modern and cool version," Westman told StyleList. While the face stayed neutral, Westman chose to focus on a deep-red pop of lip color, which she achieved by mixing together a flat matte red and black cherry.

"To make a deep lipstick look young, it's all about the texture. I don't make it look lipsticky. You want to layer and blot so it looks more breathable," advised Westman.

Meanwhile, Charles said that the elaborate necklines of the clothing caused him to opt for an upswept style, to keep the neckline clean-looking in order to balance out the busier design of the clothing.

Hair was parted down the middle and secured a top the head in a circular bun, with French pins placed into the sides for texture and interest. "It's kind of like a beehive, but much younger and sexier," said Charles.

A soft gray-meets-beige neutral tone finished the look on nails, which oozed a Grace Kelly-like sophistication.
