Grammy fashion is known for being unpredictable, and the 2011 red carpet in Los Angeles did not disappoint.

Metallic hues were the trend of the evening, with Kim Kardashian -- seen sitting front-row at Charlotte Ronson's New York Fashion Week show a mere 12 hours before -- Selena Gomez and Heidi Klum donning lustrous golden gowns.

Mother of two and new face of Gillette's Venus razors, Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in her mirrored Emilio Pucci mini. Meanwhile, "Teenage Dream" singer Katy Perry opted for a crystal brassiere paired with a tiered iridescent skirt with a train as long as J. Lo's legs. Oh, and her hot accessory? Angel wings.

Our top pick of the evening? Rihanna, who lived up to her iconic status in a bold and beautiful Jean Paul Gaultier gown fresh off the Spring 2011 Couture runway. The sheer-and-tulle-striped dress was risqué even for Riri, but she made it look elegant with paired down hair and makeup.
