DESIGNER: Carolina Herrera

INSPIRATION: It was all about the neck and shoulders -- baring them, draping them, framing them in fur.

TOP LOOKS: Dark-gray wool felt skirt with metallic sequin-embroidered sweater; purple striped strapless dress; black and turquoise gown, embroidered to create a slick effect

ACCESSORIES: Details, details, details: velvet belts, embroidered gloves and even embroidered belts.

WHO WAS THERE: Gabrielle Union, Christina Hendricks, Prabal Gurung and a Valentine's Day trio all in bright red of Tinsley Mortimer, Cindy Adams and Linda Fargo

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Herrera does pretty in aces. So well, in fact, that sometimes it's not exactly worth writing home about. This season, we're happy to report, the collection featured lots to like. The designer worked skirts and jackets in wool flannel with felt-like qualities, providing lots of body that was perfect for a long skirt with a kick pleat. Necks and shoulders were focal points to be framed by fur collars, artfully draped and even exposed. But it was Herrera's choice of color that was particularly lovely -- blacks that appeared gunmetal, rich rust, watery turquoise and gray mingled in a liquid jacquard that looked wet at times or even patent-leather shiny.
