DESIGNER: Proenza Schouler by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough
INSPIRATION: The Southwest, Navajo tribes, cool gals
WHO WAS THERE: Liv Tyler, Terry Richardson, Chloë Sevigny
TOP LOOKS: Wool coat with waxed black shirt and wool jacquard pant; jacquard dresses and skirts; great black blazers
ACCESSORIES: Color-blocked clutches; matte Art Deco-y necklaces; high strappy sandals
WHAT WE THOUGHT: Hernandez and McCollough wove a Santa Fe sensibility into their Fall collection. The jacquard prints -- produced separately on silk, wool and velvet fabrics -- were lurid and bright. Our favorite appeared on the slouchy wool trouser pants that will surely be a hit with the likes of audience member Sevigny. Less appealing were the color-blocked double-faced wool dresses with zigzag hems in black-red or black-mustard. Those bore a Flintstonian quality that didn't quite belong at home on the range.
