If trimming his long, eye-grazing locks caused hysteria amongst Bieber-fever afflicted tweens, we can only imagine the frenzy that will ensue over this new 'do.

Our friends at PopEater report that early Monday, Justin Bieber tweeted, "thinking about getting a haircut....hmmmmmm." And it didn't take long for him to take the plunge and kill teenage dreams of young girls hoping for the chance to run their hands through his long silky mane.

The hot young star revealed his significantly shorter locks on the set of TMZ Live soon after, telling them that his hair was trimmed earlier in the day while on the set of a music video for a song he recorded with Rascal Flatts.

Bieber's go-to stylist Rachel did the cut. And though he was initially nervous about snipping his locks, Bieber admitted he "wanted to change it up" and once complete, that it was "kind of a mature look."

The teen pop star debuted shorter hair earlier this month on the covers of The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone. But Monday's look seemed a little more unruly.
