Perhaps hoping to match the crimson carpet, several actresses at the 83rd annual Academy Awards opted for body-hugging gowns in red-hot hues.
The first major leading lady to show up at the storied event was Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence, who set the tone in a sexy cherry-colored silk crepe custom tank dress by Calvin Klein that featured a crisscross back.
Like many actresses donning the vibrant hue, Lawrence let the color speak for itself and opted to go minimal on the accessories, sporting only a single cuff on her wrist.
Another actress going for the bombshell hue was the night's co-host Anne Hathaway, who wore a vintage (well, 2002) strapless red frock by one of her favorite designers, Valentino, with whom she posed on the red carpet.
The gown's highlights were the giant rosettes on the sides and the dramatic bustle that she twirled around to proudly showcase. (Check out her matching red lips and nails.)
The newly svelte Jennifer Hudson was also showing off some curves in her plunging Atelier Versace gown, which came in a red-orange hue.
"As soon I walked in, there were three fabulous dresses, and I said, 'There she is, that's the one,'" the Weight Watchers spokeswoman told Tim Gunn, who was playing reporter.
Also putting her décolletage on display was presenter Sandra Bullock, who wore a blazing-red Vera Wang mermaid gown with a sculpted double-cup bodice and giant origami bow on the back.
Only a month after giving birth to her first child, Penélope Cruz also stunned in red while on the arm of her Oscar-nominated husband, Javier Bordem.
The glowing new mother chose a fiery L'Wren Scott dress embellished with sequins in the shape of flames to present her smokin' post-baby bod.
Another pretty piece of arm candy, Mark Wahlberg's model wife Rhea Durman, combined two big fashion trends of the night, sporting a gorgeous red-skirted dress with a sheer, nude and beaded top that fell gently off one of her shoulders.
