Kim Kardashian kept things simple and sophisticated at the launch party for Avril Lavigne's new album, "Goodbye Lullaby," in New York on March 8.

The always glamorous Kardashian, who recently released a track of her own, chose to pair her Christian Louboutin pumps with black leather pants and a white sweater with zipper detail -- must be an homage to Lavigne's punkish style!

We're impressed by Kimmy's demur ensemble. Typically, leather, snakeskin and zippers would come off as tacky, but the first-ever cover girl of Armenian Cosmopolitan pulls off the textured ensemble with ease. Plus, she proves that covered-up can still be sexy!

This best-selling cover girl who insists on a $12,000 hair allowance styled her locks in loose waves with auburn highlights. (We're relieved she ditched those cornrows!)

Meanwhile, Kardashian has had several style misses, most notably this picture she tweeted of herself in a barely there black bikini.
