How does a legendary handbag company celebrate its 70th anniversary?
In style, of course!
For Fall 2011, Coach will be celebrating 70 years in the biz with a limited-edition collection of luxury bags. Available in October (that's about seven months away, but who's counting?), the new silhouette will come in traditional and metallic leathers, embossed croc and python, and ocelot hair calf. And it will cost you a pretty penny: anywhere between $798 and $1,600, to be exact.
But for those of us who want to make a statement without breaking the bank, there are also a plethora of affordable pieces, in rich, dark palettes, sumptuous leathers and skins, as well as a few that experiment with mixed textures and metal accents.
On the runways we were overjoyed by the '70s revival that catapulted ultra-feminine silhouettes and understated class to the forefront. No surprise that Coach picked up on the trend and translated it into three lines: the Chelsea collection is all laid-back Boho, while the Kristin collection has a sophisticated, ladies-who-lunch look and the Pinnacle collection makes hardware the main focus of the simply-shaped bags.
And editors found themselves drooling over the second trend that Coach made their own: color. Yummy berry purples, lush and earthy greens and pinks -- ranging from salmon to dusty rose.
Ladies, it's time to put away your boring black purse. This fall, it's all about simply stunning bags.
