There's no denying that this spring is all about color. Runways all over the world featured brights in every shade. In a series titled "Color of the Week," StyleList will outline the most popular hues -- as declared by Pantone, world-renowned color authority -- with designer inspiration, celebrity examples, beauty tips and more. For our second installment, we present #18-4039, also known as regatta.

Blue, the new neutral -- a calming hue that will add zest to any wardrobe -- has made serious waves on the runways, mostly in the form of cocktail dresses. Lela Rose, Tracy Reese and Charlotte Ronson incorporated regatta blue into their spring collections. Africa, India, Peru and Turkey were sources of inspiration, unsurprising considering the amount of international references on the Spring 2011 runways.

No surprise, the ladies of our Blogger Network are up on the trend. Karla of Karla's Closet teamed a geometric-print vintage dress with a thick blue belt, a great combo! And Aimee of Song of Style wore a striped vintage dress with menswear-inspired accessories and oversize coat. These girls are pros at experimenting with color, and prove that regatta blue is easy and totally wearable in all shapes and sizes.

Makeup also has a case of the blues. The geniuses at MAC Cosmetics have devised a playful spin on the denim eye trend with an upcoming collection called Jeanius, featuring modern, fresh hues and an adorable jean-button design.

What is wonderful about the hue is that "everybody looks good in it," says celebrity makeup artist and cosmetics creator Bobbi Brown. "A blue shadow is an unexpected and stylish variation on the traditional smoky eye, making it a little bit more fun."
