Designers can't get enough of the 70s inspiration for spring. The runways at Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Marc Jacobs were littered with groovy shades of yellow, pink and blue. But the palette of neutral hues were just as present at the Spring 2011 shows as displayed by Tracy Reese, Charlotte Ronson and Rebecca Minkoff -- all of which infused a world traveler element to their collections.
We weren't surprised that retailers took advantage of this totally wearable trend: full, pleated skirts look safari-chic, and belts with fringed tassel detail evoke a vagabond feel. And who could forget the ultimate traveler's accessory: a watch that's goes with everything. So if you fancy yourself a jet-set fashionista who strictly flies first class, or if you're rugged and ready for the road, russet brown is a spring-worthy hue with a ton of style potential.
And leave it to the members of our Blogger Network to pull of the hue with ease: Christine of My Style Pill put together a preppy and polished look for a day spent wandering around New Orleans. The Lauren by Ralph Lauren linen sheath dress with leather detail is from the American designer's Spring 2011 collection. Christine paired the frock with matching brown accessories: woven flats, classic belt and practical tote -- perfect for traveling around the Big Easy.
The girls of Minneapolis and St. Paul in Minnesota are fans of an overall makeup look that is rather understated. They opt for a swipe of mascara, touch of eyeliner and dab of shimmer. To get a glowing look that's day-time appropriate, we love the NARS "Laguna" illuminator -- so lightweight and quickly enhances the complexion.
