Rocking a pink cotton candy wig, smoky eye makeup, pink berry lips, gray stiletto nails and sharp facial "bones" on the magazine's cover, Gaga also reveals that her sculpted cheekbone structure is an ever-present reflection of inspiration.
"They've always been inside of me, but I have been waiting for the right time to reveal to the universe who I truly am."
"It's a performance-art piece. I have never, ever encouraged my fans or anyone to harm themselves, nor do I romanticize masochism. Body modification is part of the overarching analysis of 'Born This Way,'" Gaga adds.

She's saying she hasn't had any plastic surgery? She's a G0ddam liar! :) I mean, I guess the lying is part of her "performance piece," but it is still a lie. And beyond the surgery, she has never once stepped on stage without something covering at least one or two distinguishing features on her face. And now she's using prosthetic makeup (which actually DOES make her look better) as temporary body modifications to supplement the long-term and possibly lifelong changes that have come with her tattoos and piercings.
I'm all for expression. And I think it's great that she thinks she was "born this way," but that type of thinking borders on the level of delusion that doesn't seem (to me, born MY way) to be something worthy of emulation. It's great if you're a superstar, but nobody who ever wants to live a easy life would do any of the things that she does to herself. Frankly, I think she's ashamed of who she is and THAT is why she has to spend half of her day in a makeup chair, even if it's just to go buy some pasta at a store down the block.
Gaga is a very talented woman, but I hope she learns soon that she can have a career that thrives on her talent and not the contrivances manufactured by the very large team of people with whom she surrounds herself and by whom she is being misled about what identity really is. Then again, she might just be in it for the buck and be going for broke. That'd make the lying about the surgery a bit more understandable, but it wouldn't exactly be a knockout punch for artistic integrity, would it?
