When putting together the perfect outfit, it often starts with a statement piece. And today's Maxi Skirt Monday muse, Claire Geist of Faboo Madness, knows this all to well.

The redhead beauty has been obsessing over a discontinued J. Crew handbag (pictured left) with a chain strap for quite some time. After uncovering her must-have accessory in New York City, Geist paired it with a burgundy maxi skirt, belly-baring striped top and leather wedges for an effortless ensemble.

The edgy calfskin bag adds a bit of contrast to Geist's Bordeaux-colored skirt which hugs the blogger's curves in all the right places and falls gracefully right above her ankles.

A chunky beaded bracelet and rings, including one shaped like a Longhorn skull, round out this eclectic mix.
