Renée Zellweger is a seasoned red carpet pro with a well-established glamour quotient and a penchant for vamping it up for photographers during public appearances.
The kooky actress has a great eye for style, and a killer figure to boot. Excluding a few late-'90s disasters -- featuring x-ray vision dresses -- she nailed down a red carpet style early in her career, quickly settling on a classic-Hollywood look, with Carolina Herrera as her go-to designer.
The decade-long working relationship between Zellweger and her dress-maker has been mutually beneficial: the much-photographed star wears Herrera almost exclusively. "It's classic. It's beautifully tailored. No surprises," Zellweger told Harper's Bazaar UK last year.
The Texas native is often flatteringly styled after enchanting iconic stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Jean Harlow, in a strapless gown, draped across the front, corseted for a nipped-in waist and showcasing a leg with a thigh-high, peek-a-boo slit.
But Zellweger's successful, Hollywood regency-era style is matched ten-fold by her acting talent. The fun-loving blond has shown serious mettle in a range of diverse role over the years, from 1996's "Jerry Maguire," to the "Bridget Jones" flicks (for which she gained and then lost 20 lbs. -- twice!) and "Cold Mountain," the role that hooked her a well-deserved Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
Today the superstar turns 42. In honor of her birthday, we take a look back at her dazzling, red-carpet style. Happy Birthday, Renee!
