We all remember fanny packs -- those totally unfashionable, but wildly convenient, pouches worn around the waist. Most likely, you've either donated yours to Good Will or boxed it up with your jelly sandals and neon-colored scrunchies.

But Claire of Faboo Madness resurrected the nearly-extinct accessory by pairing a Lucky Jeans leather belt and pouch with a ruggedly chic ensemble. The city gal also donned a pair of ankle booties and patterned button-down shirt.

To avoid looking to campy, the blogger chose ladylike red nails, hip shades and playful socks which kept her ensemble in check.

So head over to Faboo Madness for more images and details on the entire look. And don't forget to shop the selection of similar pieces below to recreate Claire's outfit. Plus, let us know if you'd rock a fanny pack in the comments section below. (Heck, even Rihanna is a fan!)

I have been made of for years by the girls at work for even owning a couple of fanny packs. I haven't used them in FOREVER but I've never thrown them out. I say HAH! to all of them! TAKE THAT!!! :)

You say you've been made by the girls at work for years. Why did you let them? I'd think you'd get tired of getting made all the time.

Misleading on two fronts. The article said 'Nearly Extinct' Accessory Returns . I was thinking - maybe it's the 3 1/2 floppy that's making a comeback or those 100/250 Iomega ZIP drives .

The "fanny pack" never dissappeared. Here in Central NH I see them ALL the time on the MANY hiking trails we have in the area. In fact you see far more "fanny packs" among the dayhiker crowd than backpacks. Just because they're no longer popular among the yuppie crowd dosen't meen they're "extinct"

I'm pretty sure the term "yuppie" went out of fashion in the same time frame as the fanny pack....not sure.

I still have a fanny pack that I use for the few times when I have to carry something that's too big to fit into one of the pockets of my jeans (such as the water bottle I carried with me at the town's Green Fest last week) or when I'm biking to the store to pick up one or two items. So much easier and less wasteful than those stupid plastic bags (ever have one get snagged on the spokes of your front bike wheel?), and much more convenient!

Fashion schmashion-I've been doing what's comfortable and what works for years, and to heck with following the trends!

How big is your fanny pack? Usually they are too small to use for water bottles or shopping and can only fit a couple very small items. If you look at the one on the model in the picture, a water bottle would not fit in it. Are you confusing a fanny pack with some other kind of pouch?

No, I'm not confusing mine with another pack-mine is a canvas fanny pack, the kind you strap on your waist. It's just one of the regular-size ones, not a small one. The one in the picture looks more like a purse with a belt. And since I had my water bottle in it last Saturday, I can say without a doubt that it fit in there.

Also, if I was going shopping (which for me is usually at such places as yard sales or craft stores), I would carry a couple of reusable cloth bags in the pocket of my jeans that can be unrolled and used as shopping bags. The fanny pack for me, like I said earlier, is used solely on those times when I have something that can't be stuck in a pants pocket but still need to have around. Which, considering all I usually carry is my keys, cell phone (on my belt), what money I have (when I have any), and my ID, isn't all that often!

I have always used the fanny pack when going to amusement parks and/or water parks! A must have unless you want to carry a purse onto a roller coaster! And since I'm having a blast with my family I never really cared if I looked "dorky".

Please, someone save us from these horrible fashions. The fashionistas hate the rest of us I am sure. Also, when it hangs on the front of your belt I don't see how it can possibly be a fanny pack.

I have been using fanny pacs since they were first introduced, expecially when traveling. Mine has a sturdy leather belt, doesn't look so good but I feel safe and my hands are free.

My daughter (age 25) and I had a conversation about fanny packs and how she wanted one. I can say with 100% certainty that this is one trend I will not be re-visiting. My perception ( and I live in a tourist area) is one of some slobbily dressed woman with one around her ample midsection. So fanny packs are still current and popular in New Hampshire? I rest my case.

I still have my black low grade pebbly textured leather pak with three compartments hanging in my closet. When I felt wierd with it around my waist, I hung the belt off my shoulder. Still do at times.

"To avoid looking to campy" - perhaps you were attempting to say "To avoid looking TOO campy."
