How Old Is Too Old to Wear a Miniskirt?

Over 35? Boy, do we have some news for you

A recent survey out of Britain revealed that no one wants to see you in a miniskirt. Period.

More than 2,000 women took the poll, which administered by Diet Chef, some sort of self esteem-boosting prepared-meals site. The findings show that age 47 is the cutoff for wearing a bikini, 61 for swimsuits altogether, and at 51, you can skip both the stilettos and the ponytails.

Apparently, ladies can slip into their Uggs until they've spent 45 years on planet Earth -- that's four and a half decades worth of crimes of fashion committed by sporting the sheepskin boots.

However, these aren't hard-and-fast rules. Caron Leckie, a nutritionist for Diet Chef, told the Daily Mail, "It's up to individuals to choose when they should stop wearing certain items. ... Saying that, everyone wants to look the best they can and now is the prime time to get in shape for summer."

Only if you're under 61, that is.

Here we go again. Some random survey trying to tell women what to do. Who are these people they've polled? That data is ridiculous. You don't see this madness regarding men. They are virtually left alone. I say wear what you want and do what you want. it's no one's business but your own.

Syd - I agree 100% ..... I've always thought that way ... lol I know a woman that is 78 years old that still wears a bikini and I say more power to her !!!!! My thought is - if it bothers you to see someone in whatever it is they are wearing ... look the other way and grow up :)

no one should tell another person what to put on, they can recomend and give advise, but you should be able to put on whatever you want to . you should know the clothing items that fits you.

I totally agree! Here's a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson I keep in the back of my mind all the time..."To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

I am over 61, still wear short skirts and high heels, still look good in both, so if you still look good then I say wear what you want.

Stilettos shouldn't be worn at any age. They are bad for the back, hips, knees, ankles and feet. The number of broken edxtremeties is greatly increased when women wear stilettos.

amen, Amen and AMEN, Syd! It is time to stop the age bias, age discrimination ... be who you are no matter your age, and to heck with what others think! Everyone will age so if you are a young one stop judging those who are older or larger lest you be judged ... and you will be, unless you change your mindset. Count on it! What goes around, comes around ... count on it!

I also agree with you, Syd. By the way, wasn't it last year that they were flaunting pictures of Helen Mirren in a red bikini? She is more than a couple of years past 47, the cutoff according to this so-called poll, and looked fabulous.

You are so right. I wonder how old the women in the poll were; probably in their 20's. Wasn't it just last year that there were pictures of Helen Mirren in a red bikini all over the internet? She was beautiful and is definitely more than couple of years over the 47 year old "cutoff". As for the stillettos, those should be banned at any age. I see too many women wearing them when pregnant, which can be very dangerous.

At 47, you can't wear a bikini. At 61, you can't wear a swimsuit. Hooray, I'm 63! So I guess that means when I go swimming, I get to skinny dip!

It's difficult to think that everyone knows what looks good when I see these young girls wearing low cut jeans and short tops and all their fat hanging out above the waist, or wearing skinny jeans, their anlkes may be skinny but the rest of them does not belong in skinny jeans. Saw a young lady the other day wearing skinny jeans, she had large hips, skinny legs below the knees and was bow legges, that was not a pretty site. Made me think of someone that is very insecure and trying to fit in but just doesn't know how.

Good for you, Willie, for supporting her AND GOOD FOR HER! She will stay young feeling a heck of a lot longer than others who don't.
