Mary J. Blige isn't afraid to admit that she was originally turned off by fragrances. "I had no idea that I loved florals like this before. I thought I hated florals because I had bad experiences in school, with the teachers -- the way the teachers wore it, that smell -- it made you want to cough on them."

But now the Grammy Award-winning artist is a full-fledged fragrance fanatic. After winning two FiFi Awards -- one for Sales Breakthrough and another for Direct to Consumer -- she tearfully explained, "We put our all into this, just like I do with my music. I give everything to anything I out there. I'm not going to slap my name on anything I don't believe in. and I believe in My Life."

And where does the Brooklyn-native spritz her perfume? "I spray it on my décolletage, behind my ears, in my hair. I'll even spray a little cloud and walk into it. I'll spray it all around here (motioning towards her waist) It depends!"

The event -- also known as the "Oscars" of the fragrance world -- honors the leading names in fragrance. And just like any awards show, there were quite a few surprises; the first being a sudden blackout where guests were left in the dark -- literally.

But Kate Walsh gracefully took the stage to present the first award. The actress -- who has been single for nearly a year -- is the creator of Boyfriend, a fragrance collection which she describes as "so sexy and romantic."

When asked her beauty secret, the "Grey's Anatomy" star revealed, "I'm a big fan of oil for the skin and sleep! Sleep is really important and fun."

Shortly thereafter, Josh Duhamel unexpectedly took the stage to present the New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award to his wife Fergie -- who looked stunning in a bright yellow BCBG Max Azria Atelier gown for the evening. "I can't believe you guys did that, you f*ckers!" said Fergie of Duhamel's surprise and added, "Haha! I guess I'm outspoken!"

The final surprise was the most sentimental -- Halle Berry, clad in a sexy Halston cut out dress, became the first-ever recipient of the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award. After accepting the award for her scent, Halle by Halle Berry Pure Orchid, she said, "To be the first one to receive this honor in her name is something I will never forget. She is someone that I admire and now that I am in the fragrance business, she is the one I aspire to."
