The styling of the presentation -- which he described as "thought-through mistakes" -- consisted of volume, volume and more volume. From the layers of clothing to the windswept updos, the looks were polished, but not entirely proper.
When asked which ensemble was his favorite, the designer smiled and cited the closing number, a black floor-length dress paired with tattered denim jacket and dark shades was inspired by the surreal film "Mulholland Dr." by David Lynch. "She [the model] created an experience when she walked into the room," Johansson said, adding that the combination of femininity and greaser-like denim anchored the 16 runway looks.
His new aesthetic will certainly be reflected in his latest venture -- an Acne outpost in a former garage on Boulevard Beaumarchais in Paris.
When asked what advice he would give to summer interns, the man with no fashion training advises those seeking careers in style to garner as much experience as they can. And he adds with a laugh, "plus, they can always call me!"
