There are two ways to experience luxury retailer Edit, which carries the likes of Alexander Wang, Carven, Isabel Marant and Proenza Schouler. Manhattanites flock to the store's Upper East Side townhouse-style boutique year round, and when the warm weather hits, those heading out east can find beach-ready staples at the shop's Southampton outpost, Edit Summer. We spoke to co-founders Valerie Feigen and Alissa Emerson for the scoop on both stores.

What are Edit's top sellers?
Valerie: Edit's top selling accessory has been the Proenza Schouler PS1. Our designer apparel performs consistently well, with Derek Lam our longest selling designer. We are excited to carry Stella McCartney and Fendi for this fall, along with Isabel Marant. Jason Wu, Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci, and 3.1 Philip Lim continue to sell well.

What designers are you currently most excited about?
Valerie: We're so excited to have Derek Lam, Stella McCartney, Isabel Marant, and Fendi on our roster. They're all impeccably designed and have incredible offerings every season.

How does the UES merchandise differ from the Southampton store?
Alissa: The merchandise in Southampton has the same taste level as New York, a sophisticated effortless style. However, the merchandise does differ because we focus on the lifestyle in the beach or the city. In Southampton, we carry much more color and the clothing caters to a very social lifestyle. In the Hamptons, our clients are going out every night to dinner parties and/or meeting friends at restaurants and they need both dressy and casual clothing. In New York, the vibe is always more urban and buttoned up, with lots of sophistication.

How is the décor different?
Alissa: Decor at the beach is very light and airy and almost all white, while our townhouse in Manhattan is far more elegant with lots of black and white and very turn-of-the-century Paris/New York.

What new fashion trends have you spotted recently in the Hamptons, and on the Upper East Side?
Alissa: We've seen a lot of white jeans and bright colors in the Hamptons this summer -- neutrals mixed with pops of color are fun for summer. In the city, peach and nude and flesh tones continue to look urban and chic, while still fresh. And fabulous bags everywhere.

Any recent celebrity sightings in the store?
Valerie: Jill Zarin was just in here shopping the other day
