One never quite knows what they may encounter upon entering a high-end label's sample sale - will there be lines down the block? A cat fight over leather and lace? A grown woman prancing around in her underwear? Luckily, at today's much anticipated Proenza Schouler sample sale, none of those things happened (well, except the last... there is always one). We didn't even see Leighton Meester there, who, as reported by People StyleWatch, recently revealed that all of her Proenza pieces come from sample sales. Though we were slightly disturbed by the sight of a senior citizen's bright pink thong, the overall experience was quite calm as the sale was not over-crowded.
Several of the racks were close to empty, but there were tons of neon tees and bustier mini dresses marked down almost 50%. Also, in plentiful supply, were Proenza's geometric patterned beach towels and bucket bags ($55-$85). Other highlights of the sale included a few pale, fish scale skirts and long-sleeved tees, white button down blouses and a few airy wrap dresses (between $140-$250). The one item that stood out the most? A single blue sequined tank dress from the surf-inspired spring 2010 collection, priced at $950.
Our advice; it's definitely worth stopping by, whether it's today or tomorrow. Just be sure to keep your eye on the prize, and try to ignore any indecent exposure near the surrounding racks. Check out a few sneak peeks in our gallery above.
The Proenza Schouler Sample Sale is going on today and tomorrow (9AM-6PM) at 495 Broadway.
