Every fashion house has its muses and celebrity fans, but what about the companies that own the brands? French company PPR, most recently in the news for planning to purchase Italian brand Brioni for a reported €350 million and to sell Redcats, was founded in 1964 and owns luxury brands like Gucci, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta and Yves Saint Laurent. Salma Hayek, who is married to PPR's CEO François-Henri Pinault, may just be the company's biggest fan. Hayek often wears Gucci or Alexander McQueen on the red carpet (and the street) and even dresses her four-year-old daughter Valentina in Gucci Kids. PPR's plans to purchase Brioni makes sense as the fashion house counts Clark Gable and Cary Grant amongst their early fans, as well as many contemporary celebrities. Salma and Valentina better watch their backs. With Brioni, Francois Henri might just even the playing field in their household's best dressed list.
