Andrej Pejic: Notable Quotables

Getty Images

Andrej Pejic graces the cover of New York Magazine's Fall Fashion issue, and the accompanying profile, "The Prettiest Boy In the World," has plenty of gems.

"I don't get out of bed for less than $50 a day," Pejic quips to New York, when discussing his inability to command the higher rate of his female counterparts. "I want to make that clear to America. This is a new age of androgynous supermodels. We don't get out of bed for less than $50 a day."

Move over, Linda Evangelista.

Watch the Throne's Best Fashion Lyrics

Jay-Z and Kanye West's much-anticipated Spike Jonze-directed video for "Otis" tops our agenda for tonight -- don't miss its MTV premiere at 8:56pm.

And we've also been excited to hear the duo wax poetic about fashion, as they are wont to do (see Hova's "Change Clothes," Kanye's "Dark Fantasy" and endless other examples).

Fortunately, MTV Style has rounded up some of the best verses from Watch the Throne. Like this one:

"I made 'Jesus Walks,'
I'm never going to hell/
Couture level flow, it's never going on sale.
Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses/
Sophisticated ignorance,
write my curses in cursive."

And check out our roundup of our favorite lyrics from Kanye's entire catalog, here.

Twin Sister's Andrea Estella | The 5 Things I Can't Live Without

Fans of Twin Sister's ethereal, lo-fi indie pop can look forward to the band's full-length debut, In Heaven, out next month. In the meantime, we asked frontwoman Andrea Estella, also known for her quirky street style, to name her fashion and beauty essentials.

1. Charm bracelets: I like to collect these from thrift stores, antique stores and garage sales. I try finding things that are brassy or gold --small sea creatures or pretty stones. I add the charms myself and I find it really hard to attach them since they can be so small! It's all worth it: I love hearing myself jingle. I wonder if my jingling gets on anybody's nerves...

2. Giant shoes: I like importing shoes from Japan, Korea and China. I'm waiting for these really cute white platforms that have little angel wings around the ankles. I also like Jeffrey Campbell, like many girls do. They make me feel tall and they are a lot more comfortable than regular skinny high heels. They feel more like boots. I like to practice walking in them around the house.

3. Korean circle lenses: I'm finding myself not able to go out without my Big DM23 Brown or Dolly Black circle contact lenses! They enlarge your eyes and give you this cute watery eye effect. They are great for live performances and photo shoots. They really make your eyes huge! I love making myself look like an anime character or Magical Angel Creamy Mami. My favorite part is that they are clear in the center so they still use your natural color.

4. White/nude lacy bra: I like simple lace, something pretty. I wear a lot of sheer and see-through materials. It's nice to have a bra that is just a part of the outfit.

5. Shiny Silver Shampoo and Conditioner for Blondes: This is something I make very sure I pack with me where ever I go. It is a dark purple shampoo and conditioner that keeps your blonde hair from getting orange or too yellow. The sun, non-blonde hair products and chemicals from a pool can change the way your blonde hair looks. I like keeping my hair ashy and white.

MyFDB: Fashion's Answer to IMDB

Getty

Anyone seeking information on Zoe Saldana's oeuvre can easily access the actress's filmography (and biographical tidbits) via imdb.com. But those of us who who wish to study the careers of our favorite catwalk darlings, photographers and celebrity makeup artists have been out of luck ... until recently. Saldana herself felt the need for a database where fashion fans could research industry insiders. So, with her fiancé, model and entrepreneur Keith Britton, the star has launched myfdb.com, where readers can browse Steven Klein's editorials, Karlie Kloss's campaigns or any other sartorial subject to our hearts' content. And we're especially psyched for MyFDB Vintage, which will feature iconic archival images.

"Before MyFDB, there wasn't any website giving fashion professionals' credit where credit is due for their work. We were inspired to level the playing field for them while organizing the industry by fashion credits," Saldana told Fashionista. We could't agree more.

Sandal Art: Chipkos Offers $18,000 Flip-Flops

Chipkos

The comfort and convenience of a good pair of flip-flops may be hard to put a price tag on, but we usually expect to pay roughly $20 for the summer staple. However, Chipkos is offering this colorful pair, hand-painted by L.A. artist David Palmer, for $18,000 -- far more than even the average Christian Louboutins or Manolo Blahniks.

But there's a worthy cause associated with the high cost: For every pair sold, Chipkos will protect 100,000 square feet of rainforest land. The purchase also comes with a meet-and-greet with Palmer himself. For those not familiar with his work, Chipkos.com includes the following observation from art critic Peter Frank:

"Like Rosenquist, Lichtenstein and others over the past half-century who have painted the visual racket of a consumer society, Palmer manifests not so much a love-hate relationship with the modern condition of image assault as an awe at its immensity and the thoroughness of its presence in our consciousness."

The good news for those of us who can't afford such an expense: You can still support the philanthropic initiative in a smaller way -- buy this $58 pair, and Chipkos will preserve 100 square feet of land.
