Madonna New Face of Dolce & Gabbana

Looking back at Madonna visiting Dolce & Gabbana in Portofino, Italy, back in August, then seeing what came down the design duo's Spring 2010 runway in September, it should come as no surprise that she has just been named the new face of the fashion house.

The Spring/Summer 2010 campaign was shot in Brooklyn on Nov. 6 by celebrated fashion photographer Steven Klein, and we can't wait to see it!

Madonna is the latest in a line of big-name beauties to work for D&G: In the past 11 months, the always extravagant duo has enlisted Scarlett Johansson as the face of their new cosmetics line and featured supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigova in ads for the recently launched D&G Fragrance Anthology.

Since introducing their label in 1985, the pair has made a name championing pretty and provocative looks, which explains their lasting love of the Material Girl.

As revealed by Stefano Gabbana on Swide, the relationship began in 1990 when Madonna wore Dolce & Gabbana to a number of international events, prompting the designers to ask for a meeting.

This led to an ongoing mutual admiration -- not to mention to the commissioning of 1,500 costumes for the singer's 1993 "The Girlie Show" tour and more recently, her "Sticky and Sweet" wardrobe.

Apart from sharing a signature sexuality, Madonna's Italian heritage makes her an all-the-more-appropriate choice for the ads, which features the designers' renowned Sicilian-inspired corsets, ruffles and peek-a-boo lace contrasted by traditionally tailored suiting.

No word on whether Madge will still work for Louis Vuitton, where for the last two seasons she starred in the ad campaigns directed by designer/pal Marc Jacobs, but we're guessing we probably won't see her there.

Then again, she's been known to break with tradition before..

Neiman Marcus Holiday Window Display - StyleList Gets a Sneak Peek

On November 20, the "Everything's bigger in Texas," saying will get a seasonal incarnation, as the Dallas Neiman Marcus flagship store reveals its holiday window display. A store tradition dating back to the 1930s, this year's manifestation promises to be truly grand.

Starting with a timely "Innovations in Energy" theme, the store next enlisted local third graders from St. Philip's School and Reconciliation Outreach to invent narratives about the future of energy.

Six of the resulting stories exploring fuels as diverse as monkeys, math, dancing and kindness will be recreated in the windows. The magician breathing 3-D life into the tales is Ignaz Gorischek, Neiman Marcus' Vice President of Stores Visual, Design and Planning.

Along with local artist Larry Leathers, Gorischek has spent the last nine months building power plants that convey a captivating Willy Wonka sensibility.

Sesame Street Not Collaborating With American Apparel! Brought to Dov Charney by the Letter 'L' (for Liar?)

"S" is for Spandex, if it were up to Dov Charney, founder and CEO of American Apparel, that is.

The proud-to-be-provocative brand recently announced that it was collaborating with Sesame Street, the educational organization known for its wholesome puppets. But according to CocoPerez, this alliance is pure fantasy.

In response to the controversial clothing company's claims, the site quotes a Sesame Street source as saying:

"As you may know, we are a nonprofit education organization that produces Sesame Street and we license to manufacturing companies the rights to make products using our characters. In this case, our licensee is a manufacturing company called Mighty Fine and they manufacture a line of Sesame Street shirts, which are sold at American Apparel stores. We do not have a direct relationship with American Apparel and we did not approve the press release that was issued by American Apparel."

In preschool speak, this means that the partnership is about as real as Snuffleupagus.

As far as we're concerned, this is a good thing -- Big Bird just isn't the unitard type.

Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrall: 'Sex and the City' Twins

While few may remember it, Kim Cattrall first demonstrated her affinity for pop princesses when she played Britney Spears' negligent mother in the 2002 film "Crossroads."

Now she's taking it a step further, not only appearing alongside Miley Cyrus in "Sex and the City 2" but also wearing the same exact ensemble as the current teen phenomenon.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the duo appear in the film in matching sequined dresses for Cattrall's on-screen boyfriend's film premiere.

After proclaiming her desire to look "hot and young," Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones, purchases this over-the-top silver sequin mini frock, accessorizing it with Cyrus' same knee-high Vivienne Westwood-esque boots.

But where Samantha goes for architectural bold bling, Cyrus keeps it appropriately young with a spiked dog collar and black over-the-elbow gloves.

Hmm... Samantha's had some serious fashion disasters in the past, so we won't say it's her worst look, but it's not her best, either.

A Hairy Battle Between Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren

Say what you will about blondes, but as France's most famous flaxen-haired vixen proved yesterday, even at 75, they're still good for a little fun... and gossip.

Just a quarter of a century shy of 100, Brigitte Bardot marked her birthday with a public appeal to fellow legend, actress and sex symbol Sophia Loren (who celebrated her own 75th on September 20), by telling the AFP that Loren giving up wearing fur would be the "best gift she could offer me," as reported by The Telegraph.

Always one to court controversy, Bardot rose to fame via risqué roles, like her portrayal of seductress Juliette in 1956's "And God Created Woman".

She became an icon of '50s and '60s women's sexual liberation -- something she shared with curvy brunette counterpart Loren.

For more than a decade, the French and Italian screen sirens followed similar paths, charming audiences and males worldwide -- Bardot with her bikini and bouffant, Loren with her glamorous getups and feline eyes.

But in 1973, at the age of 39, Bardot abandoned it all, settling in Saint-Tropez, France and committing her life to animal protection.

Instead of posing in corsets, she began posing on icebergs with baby seals. Loren, meanwhile, maintained the movie star life.

According to the paper, in 1990 the divergence of their paths first became public when Bardot wrote Loren: "[you're] wearing a cemetery on your back" (in reference to the latter's anti coats).

Not one to rise to the bait, the Italian kept mum; the same reaction she's had to Bardot's latest statement.
