Suzanne Somers Models a Red Dress for Heart Truth

Kristin Burns for AOL

It took 45 years, one red dress and a desire to educate women about heart disease for Suzanne Somers to walk down a fashion runway for the second time in her life. StyleList caught up with the "Three's Company" icon during a fitting for the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show, where she fessed up about her first tragic turn as a model.

"The first time I (walked in a fashion show) was a disaster, so let's hope this one is much better!" the 64-year-old actress said of her catwalk calamity, from designer Ina Soltani's Pacific Palisades, Calif., home. "I was 19 years old and walking in the Daffodil Fashion Show in San Francisco. I did my perfect turn and turned right off the runway -- and fell and broke my ankle! Humiliating! I was mortified and never wanted to do it again."

Kristin Burns for AOL

Until now, that is. When the Heart Truth -- a heart disease awareness campaign sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute -- approached the blond bombshell to walk in its 2011 show, she accepted without hesitation.

"My mother died of a stroke, my grandmother died of a stroke, my sister's had a heart attack and my brother died of a massive heart attack at 42. Heart disease kills my family," Somers said. She added forcefully, "That is not the way I'm going to go."

Her advice? "Pay attention! There are a lot of sophisticated tests you can take, but you need to know about them, so ask your doctor. Empower yourself with information and learn how your body works."

Kristin Burns for AOL

At this stage, Somers not only knows how her body functions, but also what looks work for her. "I am very involved in what I wear, but I wear what's right for my body rather than what's most in style right now. I understand my body, what shapes work and what elongates me," she explained. "People probably wouldn't think of me as fashion forward, but I do. I think my clothes are very well suited to my body."

Take the Ina Soltani number she'll be wearing on Feb. 9, for example. "I met Ina and she made the perfect dress for me. It's the right color red, and I feel cute in it!" she enthused. "(Ina) sent me a sketch and I went, 'That's really cute, but can we do it shorter?' She said yes, and I knew we'd get along!"

Somers knows what looks best on her 5-foot-6-inch frame, and she urges other women to be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses. "Look at your assets and who you are," she advised. "If you like, it show it. If you don't like it, hide it. Because I'm not really tall, I wear shoes that disappear and elongate my legs; nude shoes make my legs look longer."

But forget nude -- this week it's all about red, a color that Suzanne says can make blondes have too much fun. "When you're a blonde and wear red, you'd better be in the mood because it's a very powerful thing!" she warned. "(Red is) hot, sexy, fun, daring, strong, powerful -- all the things I feel about myself at this age." Which makes the red dress the perfect symbol for women and heart disease awareness, as it has been since 2002.

The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection will open Mercedes-Benz Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. StyleList guest editor Denise Richards, Alison Sweeney, Ann Curry, Archie Panjabi, Audrina Patridge, Camila Alves, Cat Deeley, Dania Ramirez, Giuliana Rancic, Julianne Hough, Katrina Bowden, Laila Ali, Linda Gray, Natasha Bedingfield, Patti LaBelle and Taraji P. Henson are also walking in the show.

Top Supermodel Music Videos

AOL photo composite

Some girls have all the luck.

Not only are these ladies beautiful, tall and fashionable, but they're also music video muses. If you enjoyed the recent Victoria's Secret version of Katy Perry's "Firework," then check out our eight favorite videos featuring moonlighting supermodels -- from Naomi Cambpell, Kate Moss and Christy Turlington to a certain celebrated "Uptown Girl." (Disclaimer: you may want to hold onto your hats folks, some of these vids are a little racy! That's fashion for ya!)

George Michael: "Freedom '90"

If you're going to do something, do it right. That must have been George Michael's attitude in 1990, when he got the world's biggest supermodels -- Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patiz -- to appear seminude and lip-syncing his song on the small screen. The video, directed by "The Social Network"'s David Fincher, is an all-time classic.

Chris Isaak: "Wicked Game"

There is absolutely nothing hotter than Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game." The 1989 video, directed by legendary photographer Herb Ritts in black-and-white, shows Danish supermodel Helena Christensen frolicking topless on a Hawaiian beach with Chris, while he croons, "I don't want to fall in love with you." Some insider trivia: Although Helena and Chris were both shirtless during the shoot, clever camera angles conceal any actual nudity.

The White Stripes: "I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself"

We bet Burt Bacharach never thought one of his songs would come to this -- and by this we mean Kate Moss pole-dancing to the White Stripes. Wearing nothing but black underwear and heels, the British model does her best stripper impression in this 2003 video directed by none other than Academy Award nominee Sofia Coppola. Seriously, only Sofia could make pole-dancing look classy.

Rihanna: "Te Amo"

Rihanna is pretty racy, but we bet you never expected to see her like this before! In her sultry 2010 video, French supermodel Laetitia Casta plays the Barbadian songbird's lover. The outfits range from a vibrant, colorful flower-print Mara Hoffman maxidress and black feathered corset for Rihanna, to a breast-baring black bustier and skinny pants for Laetitia, who tries to seduce the singer inside a French castle. There's success -- and a steamy make-out session -- with both women wearing bondage outfits in the final scene. (The video isn't "not safe for work," but still, you might want to wait until you get home.)

Billy Joel: "Uptown Girl"

The music video for Billy Joel's 1983 hit "Uptown Girl" is somewhat bittersweet, given that it stars his now ex-wife Christie Brinkley (the two married two years after shooting the video and divorced in 1994). Regardless, it's still fun to watch the two flirt on the small screen as mechanic Billy serenades "Uptown Cosmetics" model Christie, who's stylish in a black-and-white flower-print minidress, black pumps and a black, wide-brim hat. An awesome '80s dance sequence ensues, and as the video ends, Christie climbs onto the back of Billy's motorcycle and shakes out her lustrous blond locks. If only life were as easy as a music video! Bet you didn't know: Billy originally wrote this song for then-girlfriend Elle Macpherson!

Michael Jackson: "In the Closet"

The King of Pop had good taste when he chose the sexy Naomi Campbell to star in his 1992 video "In the Closet." In the sepia-tone piece, sexy peasant girl Naomi gets all up in Michael Jackson's grill, dancing very, very close to the singer. Although the video, directed by Herb Ritts, appears to be set in the Middle East, it was actually filmed at California's Salton Sea.

Duran Duran: "Notorious"

Believe it or not, Christy Turlington was a music video muse at the tender age of 16. Ed Burns' wife looked far more experienced than her young years in the 1986 video for Duran Duran's "Notorious" (you may recognize the song as a Notorious B.I.G. hit, but this is the original version). Model pal Yasmin le Bon convinced Duran Duran frontman and hubby Simon to cast Christy. Guess it helps to have friends in high places!

Who Could Be The Next Kardashians?

You thought you could ignore Kim Kardashian and her family -- then one day you came back from lunch, and they had taken over the world.

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe (and Kylie and Kendall and Kris and Rob) have become such kash kows for reality TV that it's only a matter of time before another celebrity family will eventually step up and try to claim a piece of the action. And just as Kim, the first sister to become famous, had a stash of surprisingly camera-ready siblings, you might be surprised at what other celebrities have cute clans of their own.

Here are seven sets of celeb-sibs we think could be the next Kardashian-style reality TV family:

Rachel McCord, AnnaLynne McCord and Angel McCord arrive at the Breakthrough Of The Year Awards. Photo: Getty

AnnaLynne, Rachel and Angel McCord

23-year-old AnnaLynne McCord is as equally famous for having dated "Twilight" star Kellan Lutz as she is for her skinny, oft-bikini-clad frame or her role as conniving rich girl Naomi Clark on the CW's "90210." Older sis Angel is probably more famous for being AnnaLynne's faithful sidekick than she is for her aspiring film career (she's only starred in the short "The Appointment.") But the gals' other sis -- adorable brunette Rachel -- is slightly more successful: she's appeared on Victoria Justice's "Victorious" and recently completed the film "Getting That Girl."

We all know what a bad gal Miss Miley, 18, can be given her recent scandals (like making out with boys that aren't her boyfriend, smoking a bong and giving director Adam Shankman a lapdance.) And it seems like her little sister Noah is following suit. Given her penchant for wearing skimpy clothes, it seems like the 11-year-old actress, whose voice was used in the animated feature "Ponyo," is following all of her big sister's bad gal cues. At least 21-year-old brother Trace, the frontman of pop-rock band Metro Station, seems slightly normal, despite his aggressively Gothic rocker boy style. (Check out Metro Station's song Seventeen Forever here.)

Lindsay, Ali & Cody Lohan

Admit it: you'd watch the Lohan Show. An hour-long episode would be filled with more drama than most of us see in our entire lives! Eldest sis Lindsay has done it all by the ripe old age of 24 -- and that includes launching her own legging line, 6126; modeling, acting, singing and, oh, a few stints in jail and rehab thrown in for good measure. Seventeen-year-old Ali followed in her sister's footsteps, having modeled from the age of three, released a holiday album last year (check out her Christmas Magic music video here), made guest appearances on a few minor TV shows and starred in her family's reality series, "Living Lohan." Little bro Dakota "Cody", 14, has also – you guessed it – modeled, and appeared with Ali on their family's E! show. Let's just hope the younger Lohans don't follow Lindsay into everything.

Mary-Kate, Ashley & Elizabeth Olsen

24-year-old twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were already multi-millionaires before they became legal with successful careers in fashion, TV, film and music, so it would seem downright unfair that another fame-seeking Olsen should exist. But the pint-sized fashionistas DO have another soon-to-be-famous sister: 21-year-old Elizabeth, half of the inspiration behind their Elizabeth & James clothing line. Watch for little brunette "Lizzie" to make it big in 2011 with the film "Peace, Love and Misunderstanding" alongside Jane Fonda and Chace Crawford.

You've got to love Blake Lively just as much for her gorgeous Upper East Side "Gossip Girl" style as you do for her smart career choices (hello – she gets to kiss Ryan Reynolds in "The Green Lantern.") But the 23-year-old starlet's half-sisters are trying to make an impact in Hollywood as well. Robyn was the "Teen Witch" and is making a comeback on TV shows like "Cold Case" and "Saving Grace," while middle sis Lori has appeared on shows like "The Defenders" and "'Til Death."

Mark Ronson, Charlotte Ronson and Samantha Ronson attend the "I Heart Ronson" event. Photo: Getty

Samantha, Mark & Charlotte Ronson

Samantha Ronson is infamous for being Lindsay Lohan's former other half, but the 33-year-old isn't just a woman who's loved LiLo: she also happens to be a successful Hollywood DJ. Music seems to run in the family as well, as older brother Mark Ronson, has both a similar street-wise style and job as an internationally renowned DJ; he's collaborated with fellow Brit acts like Adele, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. (Check out his The Bike Song here.) Rounding out the super-successful fam is Sam's twin sister Charlotte Ronson, the designer behind the chic, New York-based label of the same name. Now here's the real question: would the Ronson Show be better off on the Style network or MTV?

Monica, Eduardo & Penelope Cruz. Photos: Carlos Alvarez/Getty Images | Getty | bauergriffinonline.com

Penelope, Eduardo & Monica Cruz

Penelope Cruz is a force to be reckoned with: an Oscar winner whose known as much for her sultry and glam red carpet style as she is for her equally famous husband, Javier Bardem. But did you know the 36-year-old L'Oreal spokesperson's younger sister, Monica, is a well-known actress in their native country? The 33-year-old has acted in foreign films land was her big sister's stand-in for the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." The two can also add fashion to their list of talents: they've both designed pieces for Spanish line Mango. Meanwhile, there's one more talented Cruz in the bunch: little bro Eduardo is an an aspiring pop star (recently rumored to be seeing Eva Longoria -- check out one of his music videos here), blessed with the good looks that run in the family.

Kim Kardashian Music Video: Eight Sexy Starlets Who Tried Before Her

AOL photo illustration | Steve Granitz, WireImage

Kim Kardashian
sure looks fabulous, but can she sing? With her debut video, "Turn It Up," the 30-year-old brunette becomes the latest Hollywood starlet to test-drive her musical talents.

In photos posted to her Twitter page, the reality star sports Bo Derek braids, a skintight silver bodysuit and masses of silver glitter. But other Hollywood "It" girls before her have attempted to cross over into music, with decidedly mixed results. Check out our best-and-worst list below!

Paris Hilton: Kardashian's former BFF released her self-titled debut album in 2004, and shockingly, her first single, "Stars Are Blind," was a Top 10 hit in 17 countries! Perhaps the song was so successful because the heiress looked so fabulous while frolicking in the sand wearing a series of halter dresses and halter bathing suits. Although her album was met with mixed reviews, that hasn't stopped the 29-year-old from doing what she loves best -- she just announced that her second album is complete. Her frenemy Kim can expect some serious competition!

Lindsay Lohan
wasn't always such a mess. In fact, her 2004 album, "Speak," was so beloved that it peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and went platinum. Lilo hasn't changed her look much in the past six years: In the video for her single "Rumors," the now 24-year-old is scantily clad in her club-gear uniform of boob-baring top and tight jeans. Now that she's out of rehab, maybe it's time for her to ditch that look?

Scarlett Johansson is a streetwise New Yorker, and it shows in the video for her first single, "Falling Down," from her 2008 album "Anywhere I Lay My Head." In the video, the 26-year-old divorcée-to-be is transformed into her glamorous persona, starting off with a fresh face and ending the same way, while sporting in between a seriously Oscar-worthy black gown and updo. Although the album of Tom Waits songs was a mixed bag critically, Johansson has continued to make sweet music -- just not with Ryan Reynolds anymore.

Leighton Meester
:
It isn't surprising that Upper East Siders (and everyone else!) are whispering about the actress's musical talents. The "Gossip Girl" starlet's 2009 debut single, "Somebody to Love," is fierce! The 24-year-old is a mixture in the video of "GG"'s most beloved characters, looking very Blair in a chignon and pearls, Serena in a sparkly skin-baring bodysuit, and Jenny Humphrey with masses of feathers, fur, black eyeliner and ruby-red lipstick. Although she hasn't released a CD yet, chances are Gossip Girl (and her fans) will know about it first!

Kim Zolciak: Uh-oh, we hope the other reality star named Kim doesn't follow in Kim's musical footsteps! "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star released the single "Tardy for the Party" in 2009, but thus far, hasn't followed up with a music video. She did embark on a small club tour, though, which is semi-evident in her clothing choices while premiering her single on "The Wendy Williams Show": ripped jeans, Michael Jackson-esque jacket and tight-fitting T-shirt. Some loved the 32-year-old's single though, as it peaked at No. 80 on the iTunes Top 200 chart, and she did plan to release an album in 2010, which has been delayed.

Heidi Montag
: Oh Heidi, where did you go wrong? Although the 24-year-old plastic surgery queen and "The Hills" alum worked with legendary producer David Foster and songwriter Cathy Dennis, her 2010 album "Superficial" still failed to impress. Maybe it was because of her bad press, or maybe it's the fact that she pranced around in a pink string bikini showing off her newly purchased global assets in the music video "Higher." Whatever the reason, her album only managed to sell 1,000 copies in its first week. Ouch.

Hayden Panettiere: What became of the actress's musical career? Not much! After announcing on MySpace in 2008 her plans to release an album, the "Heroes" starlet only managed to put out the single "Wake Up Call." Like Lindsay Lohan before her, the 24-year-old's video is set in a club, where she wears lots of revealing clothing, such as a low-cut green blouse, a black vinyl trench coat and the tiniest LBD we've ever seen! It's unfortunate Panettiere's music career didn't work out though, because she's actually provided songs for many of the films she's worked on, including "Ice Princess" and "Tiger Cruise."

Jamie-Lynn Sigler
: Poor Jamie-Lynn is smart enough to know when she's made a killer mistake. After her 2001 album, "Here to Heaven," was a commercial failure, "The Sopranos" star called the CD an "embarrassment" and said she wished she hadn't released it. Evidence of this: The now 29-year-old never released a video showcasing her style -- although from the looks of the all-black, semi-revealing dress on her album cover, she just wanted to look as average as she sounded.
