Damien Hirst x Warhol Factory x Levi's

warhol damien hirst party los angelesLast night I partied like the Warhol muse that I think I am at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. The event celebrated Fred Segal's new pop-up store, which exclusively carries the collection by Damien Hirst in collaboration with the Warhol Factory and Levi's.

The scene was not your typical fashion-event-going crowd; it was very (very) hipster -- lots of grungy boys and girls wearing hoodies, sneakers and jeans (which of course was fitting considering the collection was based on those pieces). DJ's were spinning, drinks were being mixed, and photographers were snapping away -- Warhol would have been proud.

The collection itself was pretty darn cool too! Amazing skull bedazzled jeans, skull printed short-shorts, tee shirts, and one of my favorite pieces were the shiny leather jackets. In fact, I liked the jacket so much that I got one of the hipsters to model it for me.

Check out the store at Fred Segal in Santa Monica on Broadway and 4th Street (420 Broadway). Read

The Vogue Diet

vogue coverThe Vogue Diet ... What is that like water, asparagus, and chewing gum? Nah not so much, it goes more like this "lose some weight or you can't be on my cover."

That's exactly what happened to Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte. The two designers received a call from a Vogue editor who suggested they get on a diet and see a personal trainer. Kate and Laura were actually fine with it because they wanted to get healthier anyways (uh huh). The 'Vogue Diet' consisted of four months of personal training and a meal delivery service.

The fashionable diet paid off as they lost a combined total of 50 pounds. They even kept a diet diary that will appear in the April issue. Of course Vogue got a lot of heat for asking the sisters to diet, and this isn't the first time. Back in 1998 Oprah actually agreed to drop 20 pounds before her cover shoot.

I don't know what to think about this. On one hand if Vogue paid for all of my weight loss needs and I kinda wanted to drop some weight anyways it wouldn't be a big deal. However on the other hand ... Vogue is straight up calling people fat. What do you all think? Read

National No Makeup Day

make upCould you go makeup free for one day? I sure couldn't or at least I wouldn't. Today is National No Makeup Day. I know, what genius made that holiday up? The organizers of National No Makeup Day created this silly holiday because they say women are too dependent on makeup. Um duh, yeah we are!

I am starting to think that giving up a nasty crack habit would be easier than giving up makeup for an entire day (at least in public). But really, I am being a bit dramatic. I do leave the house without makeup to do things like move my car from one side of the street to another and to go to the gym -- but that's about it.

Over the years I have learned to use makeup do wonderful things for my face, things that everyday onlookers think happen to my face all on it's own. Like my blemish-free dewy skin, my longer than life eyelashes, my just got finished having sex flushed cheeks -- those things aren't natural people it's the makeup.

When normal people see me without makeup I get remarks like "Are you mad at me?" or "Late night" and the always popular "You look tired." I don't know if I could handle going a full day without, I might just lose my mind. Tell me could you all go a day, a full 24 hours? Read

Trend Alert: Bringing backless back

Fashion Kitty Trend Alert: Bringing Backless Back

I have scoured the web in an effort to find the best backless fashions on the market. My reasons are selfish really, I just got a tattoo in the middle of my back and I want to show it off. Selfishness aside, the backless trend really is making a comeback so you get on board and show some back.

Easier said than done huh? How do you wear backless tops and dresses without being "too free." Thankfully there a couple of options out there that we have talked about on StyleDash before:

Nippies: For the tiny-breasted gals out there who aren't necessary afraid of flopping around but are afraid of showing off their high-beams, try Nippies. Nippies are these great nipple stickers that keep those beams in control.

Backless bra: In the past backless bras have never been really backless, they always have a little something to them. Maidenform has made the first ever totally backless bra. I have to say, I am impressed and can't wait to try this thing out.

Make Up For Ever's lashbar

make up for ever lashbarYesterday I took a breather in Sephora -- I mean really where else can you find inner peace? I found myself in Make Up For Ever's section of the store, which is a section I am not too familiar with. What I found was a bevy of bright eye shadows, glitters, and ridiculously stylish fake eyelashes -- I was in heaven.

I am not a fake eyelash type of girl at all. I have really long eyelashes (don't hate), in fact once when I was at MAC I bought a pair of fakes and my lashes were longer than the ones I bought -- true story. Anyhow, the lashes from Make Up For Ever are amazing, even a girl like me can appreciate these.

The lashes are over the top (to say the least) and super-affordable (about $14 a set). Many of the lashes are made with funky feathers or are so long they surpass your eyebrows. These lashes aren't for daytime use, unless you want to look like a complete fool. I think these hot pieces of beauty are best suited for hitting town and painting it red.
