The simple pleasures of summer are vast in number, but one of my favorite activities of the season is a sweet date night with my hubby. There's just something about dining alfresco in the balmy weather that makes an outing with your beau that much more special. Of course, getting dolled up for a night out is half the fun -- you finally have an excuse to wear that perfect maxi dress you just bought! While I love seasonal shopping, there is something even more fabulous about picking up items you can wear year-round, particularly shoes! Killer booties, sleek pumps and cool flats are just a few examples of footwear that flows from season to season -- they can be worn just as easily with a sundress in the summer as they can with skinny jeans and a sweater in the fall. The idea is to keep your soles in your shoes and simply change up your apparel -- and add tights when necessary -- accordingly. Genius! There is no denying the pleasure one gets from vacationing to an exotic place, but if circumstances prevent you from escaping right now, the next best thing you can do is to plan a stylish staycation! What is a staycation, you ask? Everyone's definition of staycation may vary to some degree, but for me, a staycation means to plan a day or weekend at home to unplug -- from your phone and computer! -- and relax. Snuggle on the couch in a cozy-chic uniform: a plush robe, luxe throw and fluffy slippers. Emulate a spa experience with a scented candle, an aromatherapy bath and a DIY facial. Last but not least, no staycay is complete without entertainment, so make sure to keep plenty of your favorite DVDs and a good book nearby. xoRZ
