The Great American Road Trip: Santa Fe

Beauty Product Photos by Bobby Doherty

We've hit the road again and ended up in old Santa Fe! Somewhere between mountain town and desert oasis, this city's the perfect place for a little rest and relaxation. We started out with a stroll around The Plaza, the downtown spot where you can buy everything from Native American turquoise gems to vintage cowboy boots and beautiful silver pieces from the famous Nambe store. Later, we hit up The Shed for some red and green chile-topped enchiladas (that's called "Christmas") and a couple of margaritas. After a long gallery hop up Canyon Road we were ready to hit the road again, revived and already missing the sunshine, the cool dry air and the unique charm that we found in the city of Santa Fe.

Back To The 90s: Margiela's Scrunchie-Inspired Bracelet

Photo: Ssense

It started with velvet crop tops at Alexander Wang, then Nicki Minaj showed up wearing Docs in her Super Bass video, and most recently, the Olsen's debuted another iconic emblem of the decade: The backpack. Now, in a curious move, Maison Martin Margiela has just released a scrunchie-inspired bracelet -- not too dissimilar to the ones many a middle-schooler wore around her wrist in the 90s. (Most likely from the Limited, Too.)

The cotton-wrapped, antiqued gold bracelet retails for $95.

What do you think -- will scrunchies ever be ok again?

Royal Treatment: Marie Antoinette's Signature Fragrance Now Available

    Photo: Aedes De Venustas

Last week -- appropriately on Bastille Day -- French perfume house Lubin launched Black Jade, a fragrance that was exclusively created for Marie Antoinette. The scent, originally formulated by royal perfumer Jean-Louis Fargeon, was an homage to the queen's rose-filled gardens in Versailles. Antoinette kept a small vial of the fragrance with her at all times, even right up until her death. According to Luca Turin in The Secret of Scent, it was her unmistakable perfume that gave away her disguise as she fled the palace.

Black Jade (a blend of bergamot, cardamom, rose, jasmine, incense, cinnamon, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean and amber) is now available at Aedes De Venustas in New York. Read
