Emmy Equation - Leighton Meester's Dress Decoded

The inspiration behind Leighton Meester's Greek goddess getup? Everett Collection (2) | Mathew Imaging, WireImage

"Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester attended the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards in a white Greek goddess gown by Bottega Veneta.

At first glance, it appeared to be just another flowy frock. But upon closer inspection, we noticed two cloud-like humps -- one at each shoulder.

The huge knots of fabric became a total distraction. And what could have been a pretty, yet average dress, turned into a couture conundrum. It reminded us of something, but we just couldn't put our finger on it.

Until we cracked the fashion code. It was full-on John Belushi donning a toga in "Animal House." But there was something else at work. Something more feminine than a frat boy in a sheet.

Then it came to us: Lynda Carter as "Wonder Woman" -- note Meester's wide gold cuffs courtesy of jeweler Cathy Waterman.

"Don't know much about history, don't know much biology..." But we clearly know our fashion math!

Victoria Beckham's a Swinger in Her Fall '09 Dress Commercial

Victoria Beckham really knows how to get into the swing of things.

The former Spice Girl/wannabe actress/"American Idol" guest judge/designer stars in a digital short aptly titled "Swings" for her new Fall '09 dress collection.

Taking an artistic approach, the ad, shot in a single take by director Mat Jerrett, features a bevy of beauties, clad in the collection, swaying back and forth in unison on wooden rope swings suspended from the entry ways of London row houses and random street fixtures including a bus stop.

Beckham comes in and out frame wearing the Carmontelle dress in gray cashmere.

Think early Nineties Vanessa Paradis for Coco Chanel, minus the birdcage

And while you may have already seen most of the frocks on Elle Macpherson, we've got the finished fashion footage in all its undulating glory.

For Beckham on her new dresses or to shop the collection, visit Net-A-Porter.

Michelle Obama Wears Shorts, Causes Fashion Debate

We previously pointed out Michelle Obama's practical, yet bold decision to wear thigh-baring shorts during the first family's trip to the Grand Canyon last weekend.

And surprise, a full-on clothing controversy has followed. Even the "Today" show (see video above) was discussing whether the warm weather wear is appropriate attire for a woman in her political position.

So, once again, Mrs. O's fashion choices are the cause of much debate -- first her arms, now her legs -- what's a first lady to wear?

You tell us! Are shorts fair fashion game for Michelle Obama? Leave a comment with your opinion!

'Teen Choice Awards' 2009 - Where Short and Asymmetrical Ruled, as did 'Twilight,' Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears

2009's "Teen Choice Awards" saw the return of Britney Spears -- she took home the Ultimate Choice Award.

The honor was presented by none other than big winner of the night, Miley Cyrus, who won six awards (and changed outfits twice).

"Twilight" swept with 11 surfboards -- and the vampy stars didn't look too shabby either!

But, of course, the real excitement happened on the red carpet, where all the pretty young things strutted their stuff in the most fashionable frocks. Okay, so some were a little questionable. Check them out below and judge for yourself.
