How to Give Yourself a Black Lace Manicure

Supplies you will need: Top coat (I used Sally Hansen), scissors, toothpick, and black lace! The top coat is designed to dry hard and protect your nails from scratches and chips. To ensure the lace adheres to the nails, make sure you use the top coat instead of clear polish.
Step 1: Measure and trim the lace to fit each finger nail.
Step 2: Polish a single layer of top coat.
Step 3: Apply the trimmed lace on top of the wet polish.
Step 4: Firmly press the outer corners of the lace with a toothpick.
Step 5: Let the polish and lace dry for a few minutes.
Step 6: Finish with two more applications of top coat. You're all set.
To complete the look, I styled the uber-fun nails with a Ralph Lauren lace top with wing details and a reconstructed vintage lace skirt.

I started out with a classic white blouse as a neutral base and worked the next few pieces in from there.
In keeping with his pattern themes, I combined a tribal-looking skirt with a geometrically-patterned jacket. Both pieces are vintage!
I accessorized with a beaded bib necklace in black (anything with color would have been to overwhelming), along with stacked gold bangles, and Donald Pliner shoes.
In terms of beauty, it is important to be subtle - the makeup and hair were intentionally kept light and fresh.
Mixing patterns may not be the easiest thing to pull off, but it's all about having fun and experimenting with the items in your closet.

Here is a fun and simple wrap-turned-scarf project that takes less than a minute to create and requires only one piece of fabric!
For materials, you will need scissors, measuring tape, and one square yard of fabric (preferably a jersey fabric or one that does not unravel easily).

Step 1: Fold the fabric in half from left to right.
Step 2: With the measuring tape, measure six inches down and six inches over from the folded side. Then cut an eight inch vertical slit.
Step 3: Open up the fabric and there should be two openings for your arms to go through.

In my photos, I am wearing my two-in-one scarf with a Michael Kors top, DKNY tunic, American Apparel tights, and BCBG shoes.
