"We wanted to have beautiful pictures [of the shows]. After, when I saw the show and I saw how it makes them very mechanical, I understood sometimes the pain on the feet. There is a lot of emotion. I was like, back to toe ground. We wanted something easier. It's old to have those girls walking like that, so I tried to stop that craziness. The idea was to have this crazy casting with Gisele [Bündchen] and Amber Valletta and Carolyn [Murphy], and they said no for high heels. They were not used to walking with heels anymore. Gisele was worried; she would not walk with my heels."

Is speculation the new black? Asking "Who will replace John Galliano at Dior" is the fashion question of the season. For a passing moment, wondering who might design Kate Middleton's wedding dress seemed to take center stage but with Fashion Week fast approaching, we are all wondering who will be named Galliano's successor. Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, will not be rushed into making an unwise decision and has been taking his sweet time choosing a creative director for the French house. More than twenty names have been suggested as potential replacements for the disgraced Galliano, including Riccardo Tisci, Stefano Pilati and Sarah Burton, who all work for different brands owned by LVMH and fashion stars like Alber Elbaz, Haider Ackermann and Hedi Slimane. Many, however, are misguided suggestions like Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa and Alexander Wang (come on, Mickey Boardman, was that for real?). Azzedine Alaia was apparently offered the position but turned it down. And who was the one who mentioned Christian Lacroix? His business has never been profitable, which is something LVMH requires of its designers.

Who do you think will take over? I suspect it will be a heavy hitter like Marc Jacobs, whose name has recently been thrown into the ring, while Brooke Bobb, our fashion assistant, suspects Alber Elbaz. What do we know? Many others have suggested that a less well known designer may be given the honorable title. Check out our list below and let us know who you are rooting for.

School uniforms were the bain of every fashion-loving girl's existence back in middle and high school. Itchy plaid skirts, navy or khaki pants and plain white button downs can be such limiting ensembles, leaving little to no room for one's personal style to shine day-to-day. But as the summer's winding down and we're getting nostalgic for those back-to-school shopping trips, we're starting to look at those plain jane uniforms in a whole new light.

In fact, we've noticed that some of the biggest players in fashion favor that neutral, uniform look when it comes to dressing up for their everyday (and incredibly busy) lives. Is the straight-edge rule of dressing making a comeback amongst trend-setting adults? Here's a list of the top ten most fashionable uniforms worn in the industry today.

Usually around Christmas time, most department stores are happy to deck their windows and interiors out with the usual holiday decorations - a big tree, a questionable-looking Santa Clause, twinkly lights and maybe some holly and jingle bells. Barneys New York however, isn't most department stores. So when it came time for Creative Director Dennis Freedman and the rest of the new creative team to brainstorm a concept that would trump the average trip to see Santa at the mall, they decided to take the winter wonderland fantasy and turn it on its head.

This year, starting in mid-November, the entire fifth floor of Barney's Madison Avenue flagship store, as well as its windows, will be transformed into Gaga's Workshop - a space created in collaboration with Gaga, AVAF (Assume Vivid Astro Focus) and of course, Nicola Formichetti. Not only can you experience Lady Gaga's interpretation of what santa's workshop looks and feels like, there will also be limited-edition gift items for purchase, with 25% of all proceeds going to a charity of Momma Monster's choice.

Barneys has really been on a role lately, especially with Dennis Freedman's new creative direction and Carine Roitfeld's much-talked about styling (and modeling) job on the new campaign. Bringing Gaga, Formichetti and AVAF in to create a new and innovative holiday concept just seems like the perfect next step for the out-of-the-box department store.

So what can we expect from Gaga's Workshop? Our guesses are endless at the moment, but one thing's for sure upon hearing this news, that enthusiastic excitement we used to feel as a kid when our parents took us to the mall to see Santa is definitely back.

How does Betsey Johnson celebrate her 69th birthday? The cartwheel-turning, hot pink lipstick-wearing designer, best known for her over-the-top party dresses, unveiled a new fragrance, called Too Too.

While dancing to DJ sets by Becka Diamond and Chelsea Leyland and indulging in mimosas and cupcakes at the launch event, we got a whiff of the fruity-floral scent. We've finally recovered, but remain entranced by the fragrance and it's over-the-top packaging.

The perfume is a blend of sweet passion fruit, mandarin, ginger, strawberry leaves, jasmine, patchouli and sandalwood. But there are three aromatic standouts for Johnson.

"The black vanilla is exotic, tasty and strange. The pink musk...it's heavy duty and super sexy. And the Bulgarian rose, my all time favorite," she said. "It really nails the guys love its sexiness trail."

Clearly Johnson's years as a dancer inspired her latest masterpiece, and the bottle's pink and black tutu, fishnet and curvaceous corseted top represent special moments on-stage.

"My costume was almost the same as the bottle when I danced the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Can-Can, and Cabaret," she said.

Too Too ($42-$82) will launch exclusively October 2011 through April 2012 at Sephora before hitting department store and specialty boutique counters in May.

Vera Wang Love for Zales

There's no doubt that Vera Wang is an immensely talented designer but she's also equally, if not more lately, a very talented business women. She's pretty much monopolized the U.S. wedding market at this point, putting her name on everything from high and low-priced gowns and accessories, to registry items like bedding (even mattresses) and table wear, to wedding invitations and floral arrangements. She even wrote a book in 2001 called Vera Wang on Weddings.

Today, WWD reported that Vera's adding engagement rings to her growing stock of nuptial-minded materials. Months after the announcement of her debut collection for David's Bridal, the designer's now partnering with Zales on "Vera Wang Love," a collection of engagement rings, wedding bands and solitaire jewelry to be sold at over 500 of the retailer's stores in the U.S.

The Gap has really been invested in their new, more personal marketing strategy lately - the iconic label's video exploring the inside history of the 1969 denim label have been all over the place throughout the last couple of weeks. Now, they're taking it to the next level and adding food into the mix.

Gap 1969's got a taco truck hitting the road and heading to L.A., New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Cleverly called "Pico de Gap," it'll park itself out in front of various music events, street festivals, nightclubs and of course Gap stores, to dish out items from custom-designed menus by chefs, foodies and some Top Chef alums like Katie Lee, Marcel Vigneron, Ryan Scott and Rick Gresh.

Also, new 1969 denim will be on display at Pico de Gap and if you bring in a receipt from a Gap purchase from the same day, your tasty taco will cost nada. Not to mention, everyone who visits the food truck will get a $20-off coupon to any store.

Tacos and jeans? This is one food truck we can definitely be truly crazed about.

Target has released the first images of its collaboration with Missoni in an unconventional way. No, not with a party or a press release, with a real blogging doll (joints, hinges and all) named "Marina"! To celebrate her debut, the company created a lengthy post on a tumblr account entitled "All The Way Up Here" which we hope will be continuously updated. While we love the brightly colored garments, we are especially excited for the Missoni for Target bike. Wouldn't that just be perfect for getting around during fashion week?

Barneys New York/Macy's INC

Yesterday, two of Conde Nast's premier editorial mavens each posed for an iconic department store - Carine Roitfeld appeared in an upcoming ad for Barneys New York, while Anna Dello Russo showed up in a new campaign for Macy's INC. Though Carine, formerly of French Vogue, and Anna, the editor-at-large for Vogue Japan, couldn't be more different from one another (we can't imagine Ms. Roitfeld rocking a cherry atop her head), they are both providing a common service for each iconic shopping hub.

Both women aren't only serving as models for Barneys and Macy's, they've also styled each campaign as well. While we already knew that Carine had signed on to consult for Barneys back in March, it is pretty surprising that Anna's teaming up with Macy's INC to be their editor-at-large - we see her consulting talents befitting a brand more along the lines of Dolce & Gabbana or Pucci or even Barneys for that matter.

However, Macy's has really gotten their high-fashion ball rolling since hiring Karl Lagerfeld to design the new Impulse capsule collection for fall, so Anna may just be another perfect fit. As for Carine, she fits right into the Barneys mold, as do her two children Vladimir and Julia who model with her in the new ads.

So which campaign, and editrix, will make you more likely to shop department store duds this fall?

Last night, at the premiere of the Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess film, "One Day," we spotted Rachel Roy on the red carpet wearing pajamas. "Can someone who knows about fashion tell me if that is, like, a trend?" asked a reporter from a celebrity magazine standing nearby, "Yes," I answered, "Indeed it is." Although Rachel Roy was wearing pajamas that she purchased in the Hamptons, she was accurately channeling Celine's Resort 2012 collection. Fittingly, Roy paired her pajamas with an aubergiene Celine clutch and added sparkly Manolo Blahniks to dress up the look. "Finally! I have a place to wear these heels!" Roy explained.
