We've made it to Savannah, Georgia! There's tons of charm and hospitality in this quaint Southern city. We'll start with a tour of the Owens-Thomas House -- this English Regency-style mansion is a national historic landmark. Then we're on to the Telfair Arts Academy, one of the oldest public art museums in the South. We plan to score some vintage finds at Civvies, an amazing consignment store, before ending the night with dinner at North Beach Grill on Tybee Island.
Closet Case is a new column in which we invade the wardrobes of our real life style icons. Here fashion consultant, blogger and model casting agent Natalie Joos let us in to her light filled Williamsburg apartment to see her envy inducing closet. Or should we say closets. In addition to Natalie's sizable bedroom wardrobe filled with shoes, clothes and accessories, she also has a rolling rack full of a vintage and designer dresses. Fashion is everywhere: Polaroids of famous friends like model Hannelore Knuts that date back to the 2000 ("I don't take them as much anymore because they are so expensive now!") line the walls of her closet, an archive of style magazines (i-D, W, Vogue and The Face) fill a second bedroom and bags from Lanvin, Celine and more sit atop her bookshelves. In addition to showing us the Miu Miu dress she wore on a date last week (with painfully uncomfortable heels), her Old Navy flip flops and what she was bringing on an upcoming trip to Mexico ("obviously my Celine clogs, I could wear those everyday!"), Natalie gave us some insider tips and lots of eye candy:

How do you organize your closet?

I am hopelessly OCD so everything has a system. My dresses are on one large rolling rack and all color coordinated. I start with black, then beige, then white, solid colors, florals, stripes and I end with onesies. I also have a coat closet, where I keep hats, bags and scarves. I have another closet with hanging skirts, shirts, pants and cardigans. I keep all of my T-shirts, tank tops and sweaters folded. I have a large storage closet in Queens where I keep my winter stuff during the summer. I store all my sweaters in plastic bags with cedar blocks during the summer. I hate moths - they give me the willies. I keep my furs and Vogue Italias there as well. It is only a ten minute bike ride away!
What is one thing you wear every day?

I have 2 piercings in my left ear. One is silver with a gold closure and the other is gold with a silver closure. I can't take them off. Other than that, I don't really wear jewelry.

How long does it take to get dressed in the morning?

Depends. Usually not more than 15 minutes. The outfit starts with my hair. If I washed it, it will be down and long and curly. If I didn't (the next day) it will be in a pony tail or chignon. Some outfits don't work with loose hair, so I have to take that into account. Does that make sense? Then I choose 1 key piece and build the rest around that.

What do you own that you will never throw away, but never wear again?

My jeans from when I was 16. They were so hot and new and tight at the time. I was a real forerunner with these. Only one other girl in Ghent wore jeans like mine. I still fit them but they're not so hot anymore.

Who is your ideal shopping buddy?

I love shopping on my own. I make better decisions on my own. I have only my own voice to listen to. I can reason in my own head and talk myself in or out of any purchase. When I shop w other people I tend to buy too much. I wish I had someone who would buy stuff FOR me, as in paying for it. Wouldn't that would be everyone's ideal shopping buddy?

Intern Diaries: Notes from the Fashion Underground is a column that goes straight to the source of the fashion industry: the free labor. In this column, anonymous interns tell all about their terrible bosses and entitled coworkers as they endure ridiculous tasks which include, but are not limited to, fetching dry-cleaning, going on coffee runs and acting as a substitute nanny. This week's intern is a teenager working at a model casting agency in New York City.

DAY ONE
6:00 a.m. My iPhone alarm goes off. That terrible chiming isn't helping me mentally prepare for the day at all.
6:15 I force myself out of bed and put on the most hipster outfit I can think of. This consists of a long skirt, simple button up and a pair of platform sandals. Street-style bloggers- get ready for me.
7:20 I walk to the train station (yes, I don't live in the city) and am lured into Starbucks, once again. To Trenta or not to Trenta?
9:00 I arrive at work early, as usual. No one here, but me and the cleaning staff.
9:05 Kill time by washing dishes for boss.
9:47 Everyone starts to trickle in, iPhones in hand.
10:30 My first round of errands include searching for some very specific foods that no one seems to sell and some common products: tissues, soap and sponges. Duane Reade here I come.
11:30 Receive a text that I am taking too long and need to get back to the office ASAP. I run, ignoring the 20 blisters on my feet.
11:45 Angry boss yells at me for not being able to find a nonexistent food item. Thanks for sending me on that wild goose chase.
11:46 I apologize and am handed a bank deposit that needs to be completed. (Is that even legal?)
12:00 p.m. Attempt to send a package to Europe.
12:20 Fail.
12:25 Retry sending through another company.
12:45 Success!
2:00 Return to the office panicked about how long it took and find boss taking a nap. I guess I am not in trouble after all...
4:00 Start scanning and uploading Polaroid photos of models to the computer while listening to boss gossip about certain models. If only I could repeat what I heard...
4:02 Page Six would love this!
5:30 Leave for the day, but not before receiving countless emails reminding me of things I need to do tomorrow. Awesome. Thanks for that.

DAY TWO
8:00 a.m. Notice the later start time? I did and it was fantastic.
8:10 Actually able to slap on some make-up. Today I am attempting to achieve that effortless look. Effortless takes more work than gaudy.
8:50 This later train is way less crowded, maybe I will even get a window seat!
11:00 Arrive at the office with a list of things that need to be done for the day. Item one: grocery store run. So much for learning anything about casting at this internship...
11:40 Everything found. I am a star intern.
12:00 p.m. Never mind, there is actually some casting work to be done today!
1:00 Calling agencies regarding an upcoming magazine shoot. Learn that there were such things as white-models only magazines. So much for diversity.
1:30 Waiting around for agencies to get back to me about the white-girl shoot. Agents have their own schedule.
1:34 Trying to look busy....
1:35 Boss yells at me for just sitting there and not following up with the agencies. Um, sorry, I thought that I was just the intern with no power whatsoever.
3:00 Finally hear back from all the agencies about the written down availability of each girl. I love the politics behind booking a model for a lesser magazine.
4:00 Waiting around aimlessly as boss types away on computer.
4:15 Still sitting awkwardly waiting for my next task. Hello? Do you see me? Please make eye contact.
5:00 Leave work a little earlier than usual. It doesn't really matter though because I am at the same level of tired-ness as usual.
5:47 Wow, on the early commuter train! Just as packed though. No window seat for me.

DAY THREE
6:00 a.m. Back to the early wake up call. I try a little less with my outfit this morning due to the fact that my brain cannot function at this hour.
6:05 Can I get away with wearing jeans?
7:30 Hop on the train with Starbucks in hand. Hi Conductor.
9:00 Arrive at the office. Will there be anything to do today?
9:04 Start washing dishes...
9:30 Wait around for boss to arrive.
11:00 Boss finally shows up and hands me a list of returns she needs me to run (because doing her errands totally relates to casting). I am glad this is such an "educational" experience.
12:00 p.m. Need to go back to one of the places I picked up an item from earlier. Apparently I went too early. I love being yelled at.
1:00 Boss takes lunch and I head down the street for a salad. The perfect fashion lunch.
2:30 I rush back to the office, afraid that I might be late, but of course boss isn't there.
3:00 Boss returns and I go out to run more of her personal errands.
3:30 I think the people at the grocery store know my name by now.
4:00 I return with precious groceries for boss. She didn't say "thank you" let alone acknowledged my presence.
4:22 Go to return a dress that I picked up earlier today. At least I know where the side entrance of the building is this time.
5:15 Ouch. My feet are killing me. Why do I bother wearing cute shoes?
5:20 Leave work and change into flip flops (I'm such a commuter) and painfully make my way home.
6:30 I stare at the television screen for so long that I don't even know what's on. I think it was that episode of "The Hills" where Lauren and Whitney are doing a casting.
6:35 Wow, their boss actually says thank you to them. That would never happen in real life.

We haven't been this excited about a musical group in a while. Maybe it's because photos from their gigs take us back to the heyday of '70s LA bands, or that they refer to their music as "tropical goth."Either way, Black Flamingo is unlike any other band we're listening to right now. Once you hear "Black Heart," you'll get it. Trust us.

And it doesn't stop with the music. Vocalist Kimi Recor, and guitarist Christopher L. Vick launched the blog-collective/clothing line, + > - in January 2011. From collaborations with Etsy, to news on cool, Urban-Outfitters pop-up stores, Black Flamingo is part of the new wave of blogger-musicians to watch.

Get to know the band, below.

Chris Vick, vocals/guitar: The juggernaut has acted in Sean Penn's film, Milk.

Kimi Recor, vocals/guitar: An "avid cupcake maker" who also devours fairytale stories.

Alex Possell, percussion: Like Kimi, Alex has a penchant for "late-night donut runs."

Poul Johansen, percussion: The "creative ninja" is also an illustrator and video artist.

Ammo, vocals/bass: The photographer loves the L.A. underground music scene.

Mareesa Sterz, vocals/keyboard: Not raised by wolves, but rather Siegfried & Roy (and crazy Germans).

And head over to + > - to learn about a new film project that Kimi can't stop talking about.
Meet the Band | Black Flamingo originally appeared on StyleList on Mon, 25 Jul 2011 17:25:00 EST. We've hit the road again and ended up in old Santa Fe! Somewhere between mountain town and desert oasis, this city's the perfect place for a little rest and relaxation. We started out with a stroll around The Plaza, the downtown spot where you can buy everything from Native American turquoise gems to vintage cowboy boots and beautiful silver pieces from the famous Nambe store. Later, we hit up The Shed for some red and green chile-topped enchiladas (that's called "Christmas") and a couple of margaritas. After a long gallery hop up Canyon Road we were ready to hit the road again, revived and already missing the sunshine, the cool dry air and the unique charm that we found in the city of Santa Fe.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is always impeccably well dressed, after all what else would you expect from the daughter of Jane Birkin (yes, as in the namesake of the Hermes Birkin) and Serge Gainsbourg? The French actress/musician, who recently starred in Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" with Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland Alexander Skargard and Charlotte Rampling, turns 40 (!) today, proving that being chic is has no expiration date. Take a peek in our gallery below for some serious style eye-candy:
How do you organize your closet?
I am constantly organize my closet, always getting rid of things I don't wear. I love to get rid of things! My dream is to have an entire separate closet of just SOPHOMORE!

What is one thing you wear every day?
I wear a lot of denim, either jeans, jean shorts or jean jacket.

How long does it take to get dressed in the morning?
Under 5 minutes! I am quick!

What do you own that you will never throw away, but never wear again?
Oh boy I have lots of that stuff. I collect weird vintage things that would never fit me. I love children's clothes. I use it for inspiration.

What is your favorite recent purchase?
Patchwork denim shorts from eBay.

Who is your ideal shopping buddy?
My friend Jen Brill, we are both super quick and she has amazing taste.

Three adjectives to describe your style?
Easy, comfortable and sexy!

On Monday July 4th, Maison Martin Margiela showed off its brand new digs - for Parisienne guests that is. The label's teamed up with Hotel Maison Champs Elysèes to redesign the building's interior, where two storied French names (one in fashion and one in travel) have come together to blend new and old aesthetics. While Margiela's known for his Belgian Avant Guard designs, he's toned down the sharp edge a bit to focus on a more crisp, clean and subtly detailed space.

The project began late last year, and its completion's been timed perfectly with the Paris Couture shows going on right now. In fact, what makes this latest designer-done hotel even more desirable, is that it's located in a particular spot that's considered the mecca of high fashion. The Maison is located at the intersection of the grand Palais, Avenue Montaigne and the Champs Elysèes, home to Paris fashion week, shops like Chanel and Christian Dior and a stage of some of the best street style in the world.

It's certainly not the first designer hotel, Margiela's joining Missoni, Armani, Versance and others, but with its prime real estate it's bound to become one of the best and most booked. Check out a few pictures from Hotel Maison and more fashionable hotels in our gallery above.
Maison Martin Margiela Opens The Latest Fashionable Hotel originally appeared on StyleList on Wed, 06 Jul 2011 17:35:00 EST. Closet Case is a new column in which we invade the wardrobes of our real life style icons. Here Arianne Phillips, costume designer, fashion editor and stylist, lets us in to her closet. In addition to being Madonna's stylist for over a decade and being nominated for both a BAFTA for her work on Tom Ford's A Single Man and an Oscar for Walk the Line, Phillips has worked at Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Numero, W and The Face magazines as well as on campaigns for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, St. John, Valentino and many more. Phillips lives in Los Angeles:

How do you organize your closet?
My closet is always at best- nothing but controlled chaos. I try to keep it organized by using black hangers, clear plastic shoe boxes, and lots of hooks to hang my bags.

What item do you have the most of?
Jackets & shoes

What is your daily uniform?
It used to be black , now I am wearing more color.

Do you own anything that you will never wear again?
No I have the 1 year rule. If I haven't worn it in a year, I get rid of it.

What is your favorite recent purchase?
A Norma Kamali bathing suit, I have wanted one for 20 years !

What do you keep in your handbag?
My bag is my mobile office in it I have sunglasses, car keys, blackberry, iPad, mints, Tom Ford lipstick, wallet, zip wallet for receipts only, loose change, mini post-its, highlighters and various pens.

In addition to being the Arts Editor at The Huffington Post, Kimberly Brooks is a painter and new media artist. In an article last year, Brooks revealed that fashion has always been a topic of interest: "As a young girl, I thought of fashion and color as a means to make myself more attractive to the opposite sex. My grandmother once told me, "Red and yellow, catch a fellow; pink and blue, keep him true." My entire sense of fashion was about sexualization and objectification. I essentially wanted to make myself look pretty for the boys I had crushes on." As she matured past the bright colors of her tweenage years, through the grungy San Francisco days of wearing GAP and all black, Brooks has now rediscovered her love for fashion. Brooks's recent work, a series of paintings of stylists, took her deep into the world of fashion by showing the beautiful people behind the scenes like Janie Bryant and Grace Coddington.

How did you choose the subjects for your paintings?
The list of people who I decided to paint grew organically from the subjects. At first I went to the magazine rack and looked at all the major stylists from the credits pages-- these people behind the scenes-- who were they? Some of them I knew, like Grace Coddington for example, but others, not so obvious. When I went to my first subject's house, I would show them the list. They would then say, "But you forgot so-and-so!" Or "That person doesn't belong", etc. It grew from there.

Who are your style icons?
First and foremost my mother. She has incredible style. When I was a kid she's be in the kitchen with crazy 70s outfits and heels. I created a whole show about her and her style called "Mom's Friends" about her and her friends in the 70s. As far as my style icons, I have many, they range from my friends, like my gallerist Heather Taylor who has an amazing sense of style, to Chloe Sevigny to Sophia Coppola to Madonna. Fashion is a form of theater and I see no difference in the creative energy I use to paint as I use to put together an outfit. The first designer that really got ahold of me in my adult life (when I could afford to buy clothes) was Alexander McQueen. I am looking forward to seeing how Sarah Burton carries his torch. I've recently discovered how much I love Martin Margiela and of course I also love anything by the Rodarte sisters, I think they're brilliant.

What is your daily uniform?
In the studio, I wear work clothes which mostly a t-shirt (I love the vintage tees at J Crew) 501 Levi Jeans or kakhi pants and Topsiders or black boots depending on the weather. I just have to be comfortable because I'm moving around so much. If I run into people in Venice that I know, I explain to them that in real life I'm gorgeous and stylish and they're going to just have to use their imagination. I keep a pair of heels and a black blazer there in case I have to look fabulous or official at a moment's notice.

What is your latest purchase?
In truth it was more t-shirts from J Crew on the internet. But in terms of something major, I just got a crazy blue tafetta dress by Bottega Veneta at Decades on Melrose.

What fashion trend are you excited to disappear?
Skinny jeans on men.
Dads aren't the easiest to shop for. Whether you forget and pick up a last minute gift or have been spending months on making something special, let's not forget that the point of Father's Day isn't exactly the present you give (or don't give). It's really the thought that counts.

See how these men of fashion & design tackled their Father's Day gifting this year.
Jen Mankins and her amazing closet

Closet Case is a new column in which we invade the wardrobes of our real life style icons. Here Jen Mankins, the owner of Brooklyn's mini-chain of boutiques Bird and former buyer for Steven Alan, lets us in to her closet. Bird is one of our favorite stops to pick up clothes and accessories from designers like Isabel Marant, APC, Rachel Comey and Vena Cava from locations in Cobble Hill, Park Slope and Williamsburg.

How do you organize your closet?
By category: tops, shorts, pants, skirts, short jackets etc. I once tried to do it by color but everything in my wardrobe is a total riot of patterns and prints so that didn't really make much sense. As you can see I am busting out of this closet so I actually have a separate closet entirely for dresses and long coats, and a lot of seasonal things go in and out of storage every six months. I am in the process of renovating an old house and I am converting a whole bedroom into a walk-in closet/dressing room. I am beyond excited!

What is your daily uniform?
My daily outfit really depends on my mood. I wish I were one of those people that had a uniform, but that would never work for all of my different styles and moods. That being said I wear tons of dresses and almost always have on my blue-glasses, charm necklaces and my me&ro gold and ruby stud earrings. I almost never leave home with out a scarf either, as they are perfect for layering against the cold NYC winter air, or chilly office air-conditioning.

What do you keep in your handbag?
I am not a typical NYC pack-rat when it comes to my bag. I try to keep it as light as possible, but it's hard when I am running around between the stores and all my appointments during the day. I never leave home without my Comme des Garcons white clover-embossed zip wallet, a Chanel business card holder that I use for my work credit cards, my trusty Smythson Panama Diary, my prescription Cutler & Gross sunglasses, Trident bubble gum, lip balm, my Canon S90 camera and my IPhone.

What is your favorite recent purchase?
My favorite recent purchase is my canary yellow large PS1 bag from Proenza Schouler. It is like my own personal ray of sunshine! It took me a minute to figure out all its pockets and sections, but now that everything has its place it is the perfect bag.

What is your biggest shopping regret?
I don't think I have ever regretted anything that I have bought, even if I don't wear it, because I always buy what I love. But this spring I waiting on buying a gorgeous full-length pleated Grecian goddess dress from Lanvin and of course it sold out. You snooze, you lose is my favorite retail expression! I wanted to wear it to my best friend's wedding this fall, but I will have to keep looking.
Closet Case | Jen Mankins of Bird originally appeared on StyleList on Thu, 16 Jun 2011 16:01:00 EST. Our friends over at ShelterPop are obsessed with "It Happened Last Night" and obsessed with decor. So they've put them together in a shoppable, fashion-fueled room.

This Weekend's Pick: Iman

The 55-year-old Somalian supermodel Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid Bowie -- or, you know, just Iman -- donned custom designed Irene Neuwirth earrings and brilliantly pulled off the color-blocking trend with Prabal Gurung Spring 2011. The finishing touch? Strappy black sandals.

Now: Get this look at home...
