Hot Rollers: How To Work This 10 Minute Hair Fix

These aren't your mother's hot rollers.

Today's hot rollers are made for styling your hair quickly and without a blow dryer. And although they may seem complicated, hot rollers can actually help save you time when you want to create a refreshed, voluminous style in a jiffy. Instead of being locked to your hair dryer for a half-hour blowout, take 10 minutes to insert hot rollers, and while you're waiting for them to cool you can do other things - like applying makeup or getting dressed, suggests celebrity hair stylist Danielle Caputo.

Watch the video for all of Danielle's tips, click through the gallery for step-by-step instructions, and visit our Hair Basics section for more easy hair how-tos.

Hair Basics: Hot Roller How-to

These aren't your mother's hot rollers. Today's hot rollers are made for styling your hair quickly and without a blow dryer. They may seem complicated, but hot rollers can actually help save you time when you want to create a refreshed, voluminous style in a jiffy.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Heat hot rollers. Once rollers are sufficiently hot, take sections of the hair that match the hot roller in width. To add volume, roll hair around the hot roller from the base of the hair. To add curl, which hair stylist Danielle Caputo is doing here, start at the very end of the section of hair and roll downward.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Hold the roller in place by fastening the hair with a hot roller clip.

Sebastian Mlynarski

The top of the hair will be sectioned into four rollers total. Grab equal sections of hair and roll them back, fastening each with a clip.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Use smaller rollers on the sides of the head, and roll large sections of hair into three rollers on each side.

Sebastian Mlynarski

To better hold the curls, spray hair with hair spray before rolling the hair into the hot rollers.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Wait about fifteen minutes for the hot rollers to cool down. Gently remove the curlers by unwinding the hair from them and placing the curl on your head so it stays in tact.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Tease hair at the crown for added volume, then spray hair with hair spray to hold the style.

Sebastian Mlynarski

Thanks to hot rollers, now you're got a pretty, polished look - no blow dryer required.

This is stupid. You still have to blow dry. I love hot rollers; but this is no time saver.False advertising is what I say.

HOT CURLERS ARE THE ONLY THING I USE, AND EVERY MORNING. THEY ARE MUCH LESS DRYING ON THE HAIR. I DO APPLY A SPRAY SETTING GEL TO THE ENDS THO. THE CURLS IS MUCH MORE POLISHED.

I've used hot rollersfor over 30 years and I love them!! I always get compliments on how my hair looks after using them. Thanks for the tip about using hairspray while rolling, never did that before!

i just started using hot rollers and love them! i have super straight japanese hair so curls usually fall out really quickly. i've tried using a curling iron but my arms get so tired and the curls don't last as long. i also get frustrated with the curling iron because it's hard for me to keep track of which sections i've already curled. and finally, i love hot rollers because i can get a much more natural look than with the curling iron. i have the remington t studio hot roller set and it comes with two sizes. i use the smaller rollers on the bottom and the larger ones on top. i got them on sale at target for about $30.

I bought these exact hot curlers as I have thin fine hair but alot of it. I needed volume however, the clips leave marks in my hair so, I look like I have dents all over my hair - not a great result frustrating
