In 2008, New York Ranger Sean Avery spent the off-season at a coveted Vogue internship, which he snagged, of course, by simply asking for it. Women’s Wear Daily reported, “He wrote a letter to Anna Wintour expressing his desire to work there (presumably his day job helped the missive get some attention).” Yeah, we think so.
Instead of coffee runs, Avery got to "guest edit" MensVogue.com for a week, including posing shirtless in a photoshoot, and hang out with editors like Anna Wintour, André Leon Talley and Hamish Bowles -- although apparently, like all regular interns, he only made minimum wage.
