Dolce & Gabbana: Milan Fashion Week 2011

There was a double identity on the runway at Dolce & Gabbana this season. The design duo alternated every other model between a butch menswear look with oversize shoulders and short cropped hair and -- their specialty -- sexed-up ultra femmes, all lace slip dresses and batting eyelashes. The tomboys were reminiscent of an '80s tough girl -- think Mary Stuart Masterson in "Some Kind of Wonderful," or Madonna on her Who's That Girl tour. The sex kittens were Dolce & Gabbana's typically Bardot-inspired sirens. The juxtaposition of the two made the latter all that much more appealing.
